- Faced with the explosion of bad and toxic information on social networks, equipping the young generation of Lang Son with digital skills and courage is an urgent task to create an "immune vaccine", helping students master cyberspace and turn the digital environment into a driving force for comprehensive development.
Cyberspace has become an inseparable part of Lang Son students. According to research, from the beginning of 2024 until now, up to 98% of young people and students in the province have at least one social network account (Facebook, Zalo, TikTok) and the average usage time is 3 hours/day. However, along with the benefits of studying and connecting, this is also a place where hostile forces take advantage of spreading false and distorted information. In particular, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) makes the creation of fake news, videos , and collaged images more sophisticated than ever, directly targeting the curiosity of young people.

Luc Hai Yen, a student of the Faculty of Preschool Education , Lang Son College, said: We use social networks almost every day to study in groups and find documents. During the process of using them, sometimes sensational news, distorting policies, or information defaming officials appear. At first, I felt confused, but after being guided by teachers on how to verify information sources and compare them with mainstream media, I know how to protect myself.
To create "immunity" against harmful information, the role of schools and families is key. The initiative from educational institutions has brought about initial positive results.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Tu, Principal of Hoang Van Thu High School, said: We have determined that digital skills education must be a regular and important activity. On average, at least once a school year, we organize seminars on a number of topics such as: online behavior culture, identifying fake news, bad news, and toxic news... through flag-raising activities and the first week of school. After seriously implementing this content, we have noticed that the number of students sharing unofficial news in class groups has decreased compared to the beginning of the school year.

In particular, the school strictly regulates the use of phones during class and guides students to use online interactive groups to exchange learning instead of spreading rumors. On the school's social networking sites, we focus on spreading beauty, reporting on exemplary students, and achievements of the province to nurture confidence and national pride in students - said Mr. Dang Ngoc Tu.
In the 2025-2026 school year, the whole province has 417 schools from primary to college level with more than 160,000 students. To replicate and improve the effectiveness of solutions, 100% of schools have proactively integrated or coordinated with relevant units to regularly incorporate legal education content on cyber security and digital skills into the curriculum and extracurricular activities. From there, equipping students with a strong political stance, considering it an "immune vaccine" against bad and toxic information. The continuous innovation of propaganda work, ideological orientation and life skills training is being vigorously implemented by the entire Lang Son education sector. Official information is conveyed in diverse forms, suitable for each age group, turning propaganda sessions into the main information channel, helping students access accurate information sources.
Along with the efforts of the school, the accompanying role of parents is indispensable to create a strong "mental shield" for students. The care and example of parents are decisive factors in helping children identify and prevent bad information early.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Luong Van Tri ward, whose child is in grade 9, said: My husband and I are both busy, but we try to set aside time in the evening for the family to have dinner together and share stories after a day of studying and working. We also regularly pay attention to our children's use of social networks, ask what they are watching, if they come across any suspicious information, to promptly analyze and guide them to use social networks properly. In my opinion, parents must set an example and accompany their children to be effective.
In the context of strong international integration and digital transformation, Lang Son students cannot stay out of social networks. It is important that they are fully equipped with the courage, skills and confidence to proactively select and master cyberspace. Only when the young generation has a strong "immunity" against bad and toxic information, will positive and humane information be spread strongly, becoming an important driving force for the sustainable development of Lang Son in the new era.
