Notably, there are 3 cities in Vietnam in the top 100 including Hanoi at 42nd, Hoi An (87th) and Ho Chi Minh City (99th). Meanwhile, the top destination in Southeast Asia is Thailand, joined by Bangkok.
The list of 100 destinations is based on booking and search data for 800 cities across 120 countries made on UK-based site GuruWalk between April 2023 and April 2024. The company, which offers walking tours of destinations around the world , compared bookings and page views for each destination to come up with the list.

According to the survey, Spain is the most walkable country with 28 cities in the top 100. France has 7 while the UK has 3 cities, along with Poland, Colombia and Vietnam. Only one US city makes the list.
The survey found that Hanoi is one of the most visited cities in Asia. The Old Quarter is a highlight, somewhat chaotic but orderly on its narrow streets. This is also the area where visitors start their walking journey to the most prominent attractions such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, War Museum, One Pillar Pagoda, Dong Xuan Market, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc.
