On August 29, at the National Exhibition and Fair Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi ), the Ministry of Science and Technology organized the Forum "Future of Science and Technology, Innovation and National Digital Transformation".
This is one of the outstanding events towards the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The forum was chaired by Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung. Attending were representatives of leaders of central ministries, branches and some localities; embassies and international organizations in Vietnam; scientists , experts, and leaders of many domestic and international technology corporations.

According to a report at the forum, Vietnam has transformed itself from a poor country to an upper middle-income country, with GDP per capita increasing 50 times, from less than 100 USD in 1986 to 5,000 USD in 2024.
The requirement is to innovate the growth model, in which science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are identified as the three central pillars for Vietnam to make a breakthrough.

Science and technology provide the knowledge foundation, innovation creates new values, and digital transformation brings power to spread to all people, businesses, organizations and communities.
The combination of these three factors will determine the country's competitiveness, be the driving force to realize the aspiration of making Vietnam a high-income developed country and affirm the position and national character in the digital age.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that digital transformation is a new environment and land for rapid development of science and technology and innovation. Accordingly, the development of science and technology needs to be placed in the context of the digital age; in the fourth industrial revolution, digital technology is central. Today's innovation, with more than 80% of unicorns being digital technology enterprises, requires the creative application of technology into practice, which is very suitable for Vietnamese people and Vietnam's potential.
According to the Minister, we can move faster than others in digital technology. To do so, we must accelerate digital transformation, bringing all activities to the digital environment as quickly as possible, to create an environment for science and technology development and vice versa.
Science, technology and innovation are now also focused on accelerating digital transformation, creating development for the country. Thus, digital transformation is both the development environment and the goal of science, technology and innovation.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam needs to master strategic technologies. Along with that, it is necessary to build a national innovation system linked to the needs of businesses and society. Build a creative startup nation, a startup based on innovation.
Accelerate digital transformation for all people and comprehensively. All people means that all people participate and benefit, no one is left behind. Comprehensive means that digital transformation takes place in all areas and at all levels, covering digital infrastructure, digital data, digital skills, and cybersecurity.
“In particular, turning science and technology, innovation and digital transformation into strength for Vietnam to rise up, contributing to realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.
