Accordingly, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province has issued a plan for the production of the summer-autumn crop and winter-spring crop in 2025. Through the survey, some localities are urgently harvesting crops on single-crop land to free up land and prepare for planting. Specifically, in the communes of Coc Dan, Bang Van, Duc Van (Ngan Son), Sy Binh, Vu Muon (Bach Thong), Bang Phuc (Cho Don), Yen Han, Yen Cu (Cho Moi), people have begun to prepare the land, plant seedlings, and repair the canal system to ensure progress.
According to the plan, early-season rice will be planted in June and harvested before September 20 to ensure time for winter crop production. The main-season rice will finish sowing in June and complete planting in July. Localities will prepare the land as soon as spring rice is harvested, ensuring continuity of production.
The arrangement of varieties is carried out according to each production area, based on the growing period and cultivation conditions. Specifically, the group of varieties with a growing period of 105 - 110 days such as Khang Dan, J02, Viet Lai 20, Ha Phat 3... will be planted on land that can produce the winter crop. For areas not growing winter crops, priority will be given to using high-quality rice varieties with a longer growing period (120 - 130 days) such as Bao Thai, Huong Thom So 1, Nep 97, Khau Nua Lech, Nhi Uu 838, Ly 2099, Syn 98... while strengthening production linkages towards commodities.
For areas affected by floods and lack of irrigation water due to damaged irrigation systems, the province has directed to proactively switch to dry crops such as corn, beans, vegetables, etc., suitable to actual conditions. In areas where pests often occur, especially rice blast disease, it is recommended to use rice varieties that have been planted stably for 3 or more crops, with good yield, quality and resistance. Absolutely do not put into production new varieties that have not been evaluated for their resistance to pests and diseases locally.

The province’s plan also requires specialized agencies to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to prioritize choosing varieties with high productivity, quality, short growth time and resistance to pests and diseases, in order to ensure the progress of winter crop production. At the same time, proactively convert the crop structure in areas at risk of drought to high-value crops such as pumpkin, squash, melons, beans, fruit trees, medicinal plants, etc., suitable to local conditions.
The Department of Agriculture will coordinate to guide farmers to plant in the right time frame, fully apply technical measures from planting to caring for seedlings. Carry out well the work of predicting and forecasting pests and diseases, promptly advise authorities at all levels to proactively and effectively direct pest prevention and control.
The province directed the People's Committees of the merged communes and wards, based on the assigned targets, to promptly deploy production plans for the summer-autumn and winter crops in a flexible manner, suitable to the strengths and specific conditions of the locality. At the same time, effectively exploit existing resources and policies to support people in organizing production, ensuring economic efficiency and completing the set goals./.
