On the evening of November 28, at the cultural center of Bac Lieu city, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province held the opening ceremony of the Trade Fair - Exhibition of OCOP products of Bac Lieu province in 2024. Leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities, and domestic enterprises attended the opening ceremony.

After 6 years of implementation, up to now, Bac Lieu province has had 145 OCOP products recognized; of which, 31 products have met 4-star standards and 114 products have met 3-star standards. OCOP products have great potential in linking product development with provinces in and outside the region, but have not been able to penetrate deeply into the market, while the demand of people and tourists is very large. The reason is partly because the sectors and levels in the province have not done a good job of promoting trade and finding outlets for products. The 2024 Bac Lieu OCOP Product Trade Fair - Exhibition aims to contribute to promoting and introducing the potential, strengths, typical products, specialties, and strengths of provinces and cities across the country and Bac Lieu province, especially OCOP products. Here, a comprehensive commercial area is for businesses to display and introduce products with many diverse product lines to serve the shopping needs of people in the province and tourists; Fine art wooden furniture and civil interior area; food court, ornamental plants, quite rich and attractive plant varieties...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen stated that through the fair, the aim is to introduce the image of the homeland and people of Bac Lieu; promote domestic trade, create favorable conditions for units and enterprises to enhance exchanges, promote, introduce culture, potential, strengths, honor OCOP products, typical rural industrial products and some regional specialties throughout the country.

OCOP is a key program for developing the rural economy in the direction of promoting internal resources and increasing value, contributing to the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the period 2021-2025; developing branded OCOP products, following the value chain based on the strengths and advantages of local raw materials.

At the same time, the organization of the 2024 OCOP Product Fair - Exhibition also contributes to promoting the development of production organization forms, prioritizing the consolidation, improvement and development of effective agricultural cooperatives, developing small and medium enterprises associated with the development of services and industries in rural areas.
