Bac Ninh: Organizing the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day

(PLVN) - On June 13, 2024, at Kinh Bac Cultural Center, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

Attending the Anniversary Ceremony, on behalf of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, there were comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan - Secretary of Bac Ninh province, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and leaders of departments, branches and unions.

On the press side, there were Mr. Nguyen Sy Hao - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dai Dei Nhan Dan Newspaper; Mr. Nguyen Tien Vu - Editor-in-Chief of Bac Ninh Newspaper; Mr. Nguyen Van Toan - Director of Bac Ninh Provincial Radio and Television Station and reporters from central and local press agencies.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tien Vu read the opening speech about the history and significance of the founding day of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, and emphasized the role of the press in the development history of the nation in general and Bac Ninh province in particular.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Comrade Vuong Quoc Tuan, on behalf of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said that in recent years, the Vietnamese press in general and the Bac Ninh press in particular are facing new opportunities and challenges, especially in the context of the entire Party and people resolutely implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee on streamlining the apparatus, operating effectively and efficiently, and in the strong trend of digital transformation spreading globally.

Faced with the development requirements of the new era, the press of Bac Ninh province needs to continue to innovate its thinking, improve its capacity, and affirm its position in the modern media space. In order to effectively carry out information and propaganda work and improve the quality of press activities, the Chairman of Bac Ninh province requested all levels, sectors, press agencies and journalists in the province to focus on implementing 5 key tasks and solutions.

Firstly, continue to improve the organizational structure and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of press agencies.

Effectively implement the contents of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, ensure the arrangement and merger of press agencies in accordance with the national press development plan, in a streamlined but effective direction; at the same time review functions and operating mechanisms to ensure flexibility, professionalism and modernity in press activities.

Second, promote digital transformation in journalism activities. Gradually modernize facilities and techniques, build a converged newsroom model, integrate multiple platforms; strongly apply digital technology , artificial intelligence, big data analysis to increase interaction, improve content quality and dissemination efficiency. Press agencies need to strongly develop digital media products, take advantage of social networks and digital platforms to convey authentic, timely, and attractive information to all classes of people.

Third, improve the quality of content, orientation, humanity and criticism in propaganda work. It is necessary to continue to innovate content and forms of expression, closely follow political tasks, promptly reflect the policies and guidelines of the Party and State; widely propagate major programs and projects of the province such as developing smart cities, high-tech industries, promoting Kinh Bac cultural values. At the same time, the press needs to proactively fight against false and hostile information, protect the Party's ideological foundation, and create a healthy and positive information environment.

Leaders of Bac Ninh province received commemorative medals from the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Fourth, pay attention to training and fostering the team of journalists. It is necessary to build a team of journalists with strong political will, deep professional qualifications, clear professional ethics, and passion for the profession. The province encourages the organization of training courses on multimedia journalism skills, digital information security, information analysis and processing in the context of increasingly complex digital media.

Fifth, departments, branches, sectors and localities should strengthen coordination mechanisms, support and create conditions for press development. Provincial press management agencies need to strengthen management, guidance and censorship of press agencies to improve the effectiveness of press work; take care of team building; continue to organize the annual provincial press awards well. Pay special attention to investing in facilities, working equipment, etc.

Party committees and authorities at all levels, departments, branches, agencies and units in the province must strictly implement the Party and State's regulations on disciplinary actions in speaking and providing information to the press; promptly exchange, care, help, coordinate and create conditions for press agencies to successfully complete their tasks.

Comrade Vuong Quoc Tuan respectfully acknowledged and thanked the leaders, journalists, reporters, editors, and technicians of the central press agencies who have always accompanied and shared with the Party Committee, government, and people of Bac Ninh province in the cause of building and developing the homeland of Bac Ninh. Hopefully, in the coming time, the central press agencies will continue to accompany the province's development, together with the provincial press agencies, bringing the socio-economic development results as well as the image of Bac Ninh land and people to domestic and foreign readers, contributing to creating a good impression on tourists and investors coming to Bac Ninh province.

At the ceremony, delegates also listened to the summary report of the Ngo Gia Tu Journalism Award 2024. Accordingly, the work Sustainable Development - "Major surgery" of environmental hotspots in craft villages with a series of 3 articles by author Dao Dinh Khoa was awarded first prize.

Also at the ceremony, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan presented commemorative medals of the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association to 15 leaders of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments and branches of Bac Ninh province.
