At the launching ceremony of the recent peak period to ensure traffic order and safety, Major General Phan Thanh Tam, Director of the Provincial Police Department, requested units to quickly stabilize their forces, mobilize to control and ensure traffic safety throughout the area with the goal of effectively and sustainably controlling traffic accidents, especially making efforts to prevent particularly serious traffic accidents from occurring.
Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department has developed a detailed plan, closely following each locality and each specific route to deploy patrol, control and violation handling activities. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Thanh, Head of the Traffic Police Department, said that this year, the Party Congresses at all levels coincide with the August Revolution and National Day celebrations on September 2, and the number of people and vehicles participating in traffic is forecast to increase by 30-40% compared to normal. To ensure traffic safety on the routes, the department will mobilize maximum forces and vehicles, organize on-duty, and synchronously deploy professional measures to prevent congestion and reduce particularly serious traffic accidents.

The focus of this peak period is to thoroughly handle violations that are the direct causes of traffic accidents such as: violations of alcohol and drug concentrations, speeding, driving in the wrong lane or on the wrong side of the road, reckless overtaking, not wearing helmets, carrying more people than the prescribed number, vehicles carrying oversized or overloaded goods, illegal racing, etc.
Directly participating in directing this peak period, Colonel Tran Binh Hung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police analyzed: Dak Lak province has a large population, posing many new issues for ensuring security, order and traffic safety. To reduce traffic accidents effectively and sustainably, the Traffic Police Department and units need to focus on analyzing and identifying violation trends on each route and each specific area; from there, propose corresponding solutions to patrol and handle violations.
The provincial police require the Traffic Police Department to proactively coordinate with other police forces and local police to regularly exchange information and coordinate in patrolling and handling violations; strictly prohibit negative and harassing behaviors.
The public order police and police of communes and wards need to resolutely handle acts of illegally using roadsides and sidewalks to conduct food and beverage business, display goods, place signs and billboards, causing traffic insecurity and affecting urban beauty.
Following the direction of the provincial police leaders, the traffic police force has simultaneously deployed to inspect and strictly handle traffic violations.
On National Highway 26, the Traffic Police force has deployed to inspect motorbikes, cars, passenger cars, trucks carrying goods... to check compliance with the law on traffic safety and order. After the inspection, the Traffic Police officers combined propaganda and reminded people to comply with the regulations when participating in traffic; at the same time, resolutely make records to handle violations.

Similarly, on Ho Chi Minh Road (Highway 14), the Traffic Police Department has arranged many teams to inspect and handle vehicles that violate the law. Priority inspection subjects are passenger cars, trucks carrying goods, construction materials, etc.
Major Le Dinh Hoa, an officer at the Krong Buk Traffic Police Station, said that the Ho Chi Minh Highway has a rather complex terrain, with many sections continuously going downhill, winding and dangerous passes. Meanwhile, the weather this season often has erratic heavy rains, the roads are slippery, if vehicles speed, carry heavy, bulky goods, oversized and overloaded goods, it can easily lead to traffic safety risks. Therefore, the priority of the authorities is to check vehicles carrying more passengers than the prescribed number, vehicles carrying bulky goods, vehicles carrying oversized and overloaded goods, etc. Thanks to the continuous tightening of inspections along the entire route, the number of violations as well as the number of traffic accidents in the first 6 months of the year on this route has decreased significantly compared to the same period.
According to the Traffic Police Department, from the beginning of the year to July 20, the whole province had 343 traffic accidents, killing 256 people and injuring 211 people; a decrease of 66 cases, an increase of 5 deaths and a decrease of 63 injuries compared to the same period in 2024. |
