According to the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), in the first two months of this year, the export value of fruits and vegetables reached 815.1 million USD, an increase of 45.1% over the same period last year. China and Southeast Asia are the two largest markets for the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry with more than 70% market share and great growth potential.
*Hot weather, sugarcane prices increase sharply
A suitable agricultural product for consumers to cool down is sugarcane. The number of people consuming sugarcane juice has also increased sharply, causing the price of bagged sugarcane in Ho Chi Minh City to increase from 10,000-20,000 VND/10 kg bag. The average price of peeled sugarcane is from 120,000-130,000 VND/bag.
*Son La post-harvest plum prices are 3-4 times higher than in the main season.

Off-season plums are sold at prices 3-4 times higher than in the main season, with an average price of about 150,000-230,000 VND/kg, while the special large fruit costs up to 270,000-280,000 VND/kg. The market for live pigs in the South has increased slightly in some localities in recent days. In particular, the reference price of pigs in Tay Ninh reached 60,000 VND/kg. This price was also recorded in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Can Tho and Hau Giang. Tien Giang and Bac Lieu purchased live pigs at 59,000 VND/kg.
* Lobster exports to China increased 27 times
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in the first two months of this year, lobster exports reached nearly 30 million USD, an increase of 1,746% over the same period in 2023. Of which, green lobster exports accounted for more than 90% with 27.6 million USD, an increase of 80 times; followed by spiny lobsters reaching 2.15 million USD, an increase of 45 times over the same period. The Chinese market is still the main market, when in the first two months of the year, exports reached nearly 29 million USD, 27 times higher than the same period last year.
