The Asian Volleyball Championship (AVC Nations Cup 2025) took place at Dong Anh Stadium ( Hanoi ) from June 7 to 14. Previously, the tournament was called AVC Challenge Cup and was renamed this year.
With home field advantage, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily won the championship after the final match against the Philippines on the evening of June 14. Throughout the tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team only lost one set, which was in the semi-final match against Kazakhstan.
The rest, they all won overwhelmingly with a score of 3-0. In addition to their superior performance, to be fair, this year's home team has not encountered any truly worthy opponents. Even Kazakhstan, a team highly rated in previous years, also showed unconvincing performance. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily won the AVC Nations Cup for the third time.
The runners-up this year were the Philippines, a team that has shown much improvement. Last year, they finished third. Changing the color of their medals is an encouraging achievement for the team.
Chinese Taipei was also a name that received much praise. After a regrettable defeat in the semi-finals against the Philippines, they rose strongly in the third-place match against Kazakhstan and won the bronze medal. And of course, Kazakhstan's fourth place in the end can be considered a heavy defeat for this team.
In 5th place is Indonesia. This team did not bring a very strong squad to this year's AVC Nations Cup. They showed inconsistent performance in the group stage, but gradually improved when entering the qualifying matches.
One of the current players in the tournament is Iran, who were not highly rated but won both Indonesia and the Philippines in the group stage. Although they were not able to maintain their stability after that, they still finished in 6th place, a commendable achievement for Iran.
Ranks 7 to 11 belong to the teams of Australia, Hong Kong, India, Mongolia and New Zealand respectively.
The AVC Nations Cup is for Group 2 teams of Asian volleyball. The continent's top teams such as Thailand, Japan, China... participate in other higher tournaments but do not participate in this tournament. Therefore, this is the 3rd consecutive year that Vietnamese volleyball has won the AVC Nations Cup.
