Bac Lieu Newspaper: Continuously improving the quality of economic information

Identifying the improvement of information quality as an important task and solution to enhance the combativeness, criticism and timely improvement of the press's information and propaganda work. In recent times, Bac Lieu Newspaper has continuously improved and built many specialized pages and columns, especially pages on economic development.

DIVERSIFY INFORMATION BY OPENING MORE SECTIONS

With the economic strength of a purely agricultural province, Bac Lieu Newspaper has focused on improving the Agriculture - Rural page since 2010 and has continuously opened many more columns related to information, reflection, analysis and proposed many solutions for the development of "three agriculture". If in the previous period, the information in this field was quite monotonous, then many new columns were built such as: Accompanying farmers, Farmer models, Getting rich with farmers, Typical farmers... From there, contributing to timely reflecting achievements in agricultural production, building new rural areas, introducing good models, creative ways of farmers and localities, helping farmers grasp information, effective production models in and outside the province...

At the same time, the Economic page also focuses on improving and building more sections such as: Vietnamese people use Vietnamese products, Economic Handbook, Market - Consumption, thereby contributing to diversifying information, receiving public attention and high appreciation.

HIGHLIGHTS OF TODAY'S ISSUE

One of the special pages that has created a buzz and has a unique identity of Bac Lieu Newspaper is the Today's Issues page. This page has been implemented in Bac Lieu Newspaper since 2019, with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the press, diversifying information and attracting attention, creating public opinion. This also aims to promote the role and responsibility of the press in performing the tasks of supervision, criticism and building a bridge between the Government and the People. At the same time, it overcomes the limitations of print newspapers and promotes the role and strengths of this type of journalism.

Before hot events or issues, reporters often organize and build multi-part topics, making the information in the articles last longer and forcing readers to wait for information (because printed newspapers are published periodically with 3 issues/week). With the organization of the Today's Issues page, all content will be conveyed in one issue. Also, from 1 page organized and presented in the traditional way before, it is now broken into 2 adjacent pages linked together and basically solves the content that needs information in the form of both reflection, analysis, solutions, recommendations and orientations. In particular, the content on the Today's Issues page forces the management sector, the leaders of sectors and fields to be responsible for answering the issues raised by the press and readers, and cannot avoid or shirk responsibility. More notably, many of the newspaper's proposals and recommendations have been concretized by the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, sectors and localities through resolutions, directives and solutions, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of local socio-economic development tasks.

An important solution in implementing the Today’s Issues page in Bac Lieu newspaper is to focus on “hot” content, promptly informing the province’s policies and directions in many fields.
