The program is organized by the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) in coordination with UNICEF in Vietnam.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during this year's rainy and stormy season, the average rainfall in the Central region is likely to be 30% higher than the average rainfall of many years, and locally higher in some places; rain and floods will develop more complicatedly.

Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Head of the Department of Natural Disaster Response and Overcoming (Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control) requested press agencies to strengthen information and communication work on natural disaster prevention and control in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai said that the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is monitoring to advise early and remote response to a storm forecast to be very strong moving into the East Sea next week and affected by the first cold air of the season, which could cause heavy rain on the mainland of our country.

In the process of informing and communicating about natural disaster prevention and control, press agencies pay attention to propaganda so that people are careful, avoiding accidents, injuries, and unfortunate incidents when securing houses against storms, clearing floods, etc.

Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Van Tien emphasized that the press and media play a particularly important role in natural disaster prevention and control.

Through the workshop and training program, reporters are equipped with knowledge and skills to work safely; enhance the social responsibility of the press in preventing and fighting natural disasters; promote the role of providing timely, accurate, humane information, protecting children and the community.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tien suggested that in news reports, images, and narrations, reporters and editors should aim to protect children, raise public awareness, spread good examples and humane stories... to quickly change the state from early warning to early action to minimize damage to the whole society.

Deputy Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Dang Khac Loi suggested that press agencies promote investment, upgrade information technology infrastructure, and modernize multimedia communication systems in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, taking digital platforms as the driving force for development.

At the same time, train and foster the team in charge of propaganda on natural disaster prevention and control; build capacity to master new digital tools, apply data analysis in planning and implementing propaganda strategies.

Along with that, develop creative digital content, close to students, students and the young generation, the group of people who always aim for technology and digital media; strengthen links with businesses, technology partners, the press, continuously update new propaganda trends, optimize resources and expand opportunities for social cooperation in propaganda in the field of disaster prevention and control.
