In 2024, facilities in Thai Nguyen province will produce more than 32 million seedlings of all kinds, an increase of 13.6% compared to 2023. |
As a person who has been involved in the forest economy for nearly 20 years, Mr. Hoang Van Nhin (in Phu Tho hamlet, Phu Do commune, Phu Luong) affirmed: Quality-assured forestry seedlings will help increase the survival rate of trees, improve wood quality and sell for a higher price. Therefore, I always choose to buy seedlings at reputable nurseries.
In reality, after many years of being attached to the hill and forest economy, local people in the province have raised their awareness in choosing seedlings for forest planting. However, there are still many gullible people who buy seedlings from some suppliers of poor quality or unknown origin for planting. This is the reason why the provincial authorities must strengthen the management of the quality of forestry seedlings in the area.
In the province, there are currently over 100 forestry seedling production facilities, capable of supplying the market with approximately 30 million seedlings each year.
Mr. Le Cam Long, Head of the Forestry Sub-Department, said: Currently, the management of forestry seed quality is linked to improving the quality and productivity of planted forests. Therefore, we have directed to strengthen the strict management of forestry seed in the area; require establishments to have a business registration certificate in the field of forestry seed and only produce varieties certified by the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
Every year, the provincial Forest Protection force establishes an inspection team, requiring facilities to prove the origin of seed sources that comply with regulations and standards for seedling production.
Good management of forestry seed quality contributes to meeting the needs of planting and developing the forest economy of Thai Nguyen people. |
In 2024 alone, the Forestry Force inspected 3 organizations and 2 individuals producing and trading forestry plant varieties in Phu Luong and Dong Hy districts and Thai Nguyen city. The good news is that the inspected organizations and individuals producing, trading and using forestry plant varieties all complied with the regulations in Decree No. 27/2021/ND-CP.
With many efforts, the management of forestry plant varieties in the province has had positive changes. The rampant and uncontrolled production of seedlings has been overcome; poor quality seedlings of unknown origin have been gradually limited.
Accordingly, many types of high-yield and high-quality forestry seedlings have been put into production such as tissue-grown hybrid acacia, cinnamon, etc. In 2024 alone, the province produced more than 32 million seedlings of all kinds, an increase of 13.64% compared to 2023. Not only meeting the needs of people in the province but also exporting to neighboring provinces such as Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, etc.
Managing the quality of forestry plant varieties not only ensures that the quantity of seeds meets the standards for export, has a clear origin, and achieves a high survival rate, but also contributes to meeting the needs of planting and developing the forest economy of Thai Nguyen people.
However, through inspection, it was found that some seed production facilities have not yet had documents announcing seedling production standards according to regulations and have not yet established nursery logbooks.
Therefore, to further enhance the role of state management agencies, in addition to propagating and guiding people to produce forestry seedlings in accordance with regulations, all levels and functional sectors must also strengthen inspections, especially with establishments trading in imported seedlings from abroad or other provinces. At the same time, strictly handle cases of trading in forestry seedlings of unknown origin...
