43 years since June 2, 1965, the two newspapers Ha Dong - Son Tay merged and published the first issue, until the last issue on July 31, 2008, ending the historical mission as the mouthpiece of the Ha Tay Provincial Party Committee to enter a new stage of development, Ha Tay Newspaper has fulfilled its mission well on the ideological and cultural front. Generations of cadres, reporters, and employees who worked at Ha Tay Newspaper will forever remember the memories of an impressive career...

The golden years
Born in the process of building socialism in the North, supporting the great frontline in the South and fighting against the escalation of the war of American imperialism in the North, Ha Tay Newspaper has shown its pioneering role in propaganda, agitation, collective organization, and mobilizing all classes of people to participate in building and developing the socio- economy , national security and defense in the province. In particular, the Newspaper has gathered a team of writers who love their jobs, have professional journalism expertise, and create many high-quality journalistic works, vividly reflecting the reality of the life of labor, production, combat, and combat service of the army and people and serving the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and homeland.
Since the years of fighting against the US to save the country (1965 - 1975), Ha Tay Newspaper (from December 1975 to August 1991, named Ha Son Binh Newspaper) has affirmed its role as the mouthpiece of the Provincial Party Committee, taking the lead in propaganda, reflecting the production and combat activities of the army and people with many typical examples such as "Suoi Hai girl, Cau Gie boy" and the "Three Virtues" movements of Dan Phuong women, "Truong Son stick" in Hoa Xa hometown, winter crop production in Binh Da (Thanh Oai)... have been summarized, replicated, and become bright spots for provinces and cities to learn from.
Through each stage of the renovation process, the rapid integration into the national press has created conditions for Ha Tay Newspaper to mark a new development step in terms of breadth, depth, form and quality of publications. During that process, the Newspaper always aims to improve the quality of content, innovate the form in propagating guidelines, policies, discovering and spreading new factors, advanced models, good people and good deeds. The press atmosphere is always vibrant, through writing contests: "Beauty of everyday life", "Example of good people and good deeds", "New factors, advanced models", "Photographs of press and art news"..., many typical models have been discovered, propagated and spread. The Newspaper is of interest to readers nationwide.
In particular, the Newspaper has built a team of managers with bachelor's degrees and advanced political theory; 100% of reporters and staff have university degrees, are conscious of improving their skills, keeping up with practical issues, and self-renewing to gradually become more confident in their profession. Not only doing professional work, social work - charity has become an annual activity of the agency. Through the Newspaper's Charity Fund, many meritorious people, former youth volunteers, and households in difficult circumstances in the province have been supported to build and repair houses, and given wheelchairs, bicycles, and gifts, helping many people in difficult circumstances to gradually improve their lives. Another clear mark of Ha Tay Newspaper is that it has founded and maintained the "Traditional Cross-Country Tournament" and "Youth Football Tournament", thereby selecting many golden faces for high-performance sports in the province and the country.
That was also the period of full-fledged and enthusiastic journalism for young journalists like us. During the subsidy period, working tools were scarce and scarce, transportation was difficult, but we were not afraid of hardships, we climbed mountains and waded through streams, went to Muong and Dao villages in remote areas of the province; or cycled dozens of kilometers to communes in the plains, went to the places to learn about the reality, exploit documents, access information sources; when we were a good economic example, a model cooperative, a typical example of culture, education, health; or about pressing issues in the locality... to write articles. The journalistic products expressed in a simple, honest style but full of the breath of life of each of us were published in Ha Son Binh and Ha Tay newspapers, promptly encouraging and promoting the emulation movement, enthusiastically working and studying, and building the homeland.
The mark of "Ha Tay Newspaper style"
In the period of renovation, the press developed rapidly. Ha Tay Newspaper, first of all the Editorial Board, always wondered how to integrate into the press market and effectively fulfill the political tasks of the locality. A series of new policies were directed by the Editorial Board, namely: Organizing study tours and exchanging experiences with other newspapers; increasing circulation, ensuring that newspaper readers have enough newspapers to read; improving the quality of news, articles, and photos, but still maintaining a political orientation, not commercializing; expanding topics, innovating the way of expression, increasing the amount of information through columns that are both healthy entertainment and have profound social significance. And our generation of reporters - the "news hunters" actively participated, bringing to life the columns "Beauty of everyday life", "Flavors of home", "Old stories retold", "Events and comments", "Writing at readers' requests", "Reporters' notebook", "Whispers and whispers"..., affirming a unique style of Ha Tay newspaper in the general flow of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.
And, in each step of innovation and development of Ha Tay Newspaper, there is the mark of the leaders, namely Editors-in-Chief Le Chuc, Xuan Hoa, Dac Huu, Nguyen Xuan Hung, Kieu Ngoc Kim and Deputy Editors-in-Chief Doan Hao, Le Dung, Nguyen Long...
Looking back at the early years of re-establishing Ha Tay province (1990 - 1992), the material facilities for making newspapers were still very difficult. During Tet or major holidays of the year, the newspaper had to be printed in 4 colors, that was when the editorial office had to work the hardest. At that time, I was often assigned to print at the Vietnam News Agency Printing House or the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Printing House, having to process news articles so that they "fit the mold", check for errors so that they were clean, check the color correction so that they were consistent, not off-center, or overlapped before printing... There were times when we were "as tense as a bowstring", nervous, worried that the printed newspaper might have errors... But it was thanks to those "tense" times that we grew up.
The period from 1991 to before August 2008 - more than 17 years, was the most vibrant period of Ha Tay Newspaper. The newspaper developed rapidly, strongly, in the direction of innovation and quality, becoming one of the leading local Party newspapers in the Red River Delta region. In early 1997, Ha Tay Provincial Party Committee allowed Ha Tay Newspaper to publish 8 pages, published every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, basically covering all branches, Party committees and agencies in the province, then continued to change the manchette, improve the form, add more columns, organize a network of collaborators and informants throughout the localities in the province. New information reflected in the newspaper is increasingly diverse and attractive, and this is an important factor promoting the newspaper's outstanding development: Being one of the few Party newspapers publishing 4 publications (daily newspaper, weekly newspaper, monthly newspaper, electronic newspaper); The circulation skyrocketed from 18,000 copies/issue (in 2001) to 22,000 copies/issue in 2005 - ranking among the top local Party newspapers in the country in terms of circulation. Also in 2005, the Newspaper Printing Factory was established, closing all stages from the editorial office to publishing and distribution.
It can be said that this was a brilliant and impressive development period of the Ha Tay Provincial Party Newspaper in its 43-year history of accompanying the Vietnamese revolutionary press.
Third-class Labor Medal (1995), Second-class Labor Medal (2003) and First-class Labor Medal (2005) - these are the worthy rewards that the Party and State have given to Ha Tay Newspaper, a local newspaper with 43 years of being a "shock soldier on the ideological and cultural front" with special contributions to the cause of building socialism in the North, supporting the great frontline in the South, serving the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and the heroic homeland of Ha Tay.
