Banks reduce interest rates for customers
As for the banking sector, according to information from the State Bank, in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, it is estimated that 12,000 customers with bank loans with a total outstanding debt of VND23,000 billion suffered losses due to storm Yagi.
According to Mr. Dao Minh Tu - Deputy Governor of the State Bank, many businesses and individuals suffered losses, almost lost all their assets, and have no source to compensate in the immediate future.
Faced with the losses of customers, the State Bank has requested commercial banks to focus on immediately supporting businesses, people and borrowers to immediately overcome the problems. difficulties caused by storms
At the same time, commercial banks temporarily suspend, postpone, extend debt, and reduce interest on debts that are due. For debts that are about to be due, support solutions should also be very active for customers to borrow capital.
Regarding debts of customers in the fields of rural agriculture and aquaculture, Mr. Tu emphasized that first of all, banks must consider postponing, extending debt, and reducing interest immediately.
In addition, banks need to boldly lend new loans so that businesses, people and households have new capital to rotate. As for old debts, banks should consider resolving them in accordance with actual conditions.
VPBank has also just announced support for loan interest rates for existing individual customers affected by storm Yagi.
Accordingly, VPBank will directly reduce lending interest rates for all individual customers with collateral. Specifically, VPBank will reduce interest rates for medium and long-term loans by 1%, and short-term loans by 0.5%.
