The National Museum of History welcomed and worked with the delegation of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province.

On the morning of May 13, 2025, the National Museum of History (NMH) welcomed and worked with a delegation from the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province led by Mr. Nguyen Van Sau - Director of the Department. On the side of the NMH, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director, and managers of specialized departments participated in the reception.

The working session is part of the program to survey, learn and exchange experiences on exhibition design models and organize activities at museums, serving the research and consultation on the proposal of building a museum for the Southwestern coastal region. This is an important cultural project in preparation for the APEC 2027 Summit Week, while contributing to promoting the value of regional cultural heritage, associated with the task of affirming and protecting national sovereignty in the context of current integration and development.

 

  Overview of the working session

At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan introduced the formation process, functions, tasks, organizational structure and professional activities of the Museum. He emphasized the role of collecting and preserving artifacts in museum activities.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Sau thanked the leaders of the National Museum of History for their welcome and briefly introduced some important historical and cultural contents of the Southwest region as well as the Government's direction on the construction of cultural works serving APEC 2027, not only becoming cultural and tourism highlights but also linking heritage preservation, traditionaleducation and contributing to affirming territorial sovereignty. On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Sau proposed to cooperate with the National Museum of History in providing professional consulting support, in the process of building the exhibition content to ensure attractiveness, in a modern direction but still preserving the cultural identity of the region.

In response, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan expressed his agreement with the proposal of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province in researching and building the museum. He affirmed that this is a necessary step and follows the professional process for the formation of a new museum. At the same time, he said that the National Museum of History is ready to support and coordinate in the implementation of the project, contributing to the overall development of the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage.

The working session took place in an open and cooperative atmosphere, with both sides establishing a focal point for information exchange. At the end of the working session, the delegation from the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang visited the exhibition system of the National Museum of History.
