At the meeting, Prof. Ha Van Cao assessed the role of Dong Son culture in the formation of Vietnam's ancient civilization. He said that in recent years, the study of Dong Son bronze artifacts has received much attention from researchers in Nanjing. During the working trip, the delegation visited and directly surveyed the Luy Lau ancient citadel relic ( Bac Ninh ), where the National Museum of History and the University of East Asia (Japan) conducted the eighth archaeological excavation. When approaching the ceramic artifacts discovered at the relic, he assessed that these artifacts clearly showed the characteristics of indigenous culture.

Overview of the working session

On this occasion, Prof. Ha Van Cao expressed his wish to promote research cooperation between Nanjing University and the National Museum of History, especially in the fields of archaeology, ceramics and bronze research of the Dong Son culture.

In addition, he also emphasized the role of major river basins such as the Red River in the North, the Con River in the Central region and the Mekong River in the South in the development of ancient cultures in Vietnam. The formation and continuous development of cultures through these basins not only reflects the ability of humans to adapt to natural conditions, but also shows the role of Vietnam as an important intersection on the cultural exchange route between East Asia and South Asia. At the same time, he believes that this is a potential research direction in the future.
