Located in Hanoi, the Vietnam Museum of Nature is a fascinating destination, offering a visual journey back in time, recreating the history of life's development spanning billions of years. With nearly 1,400 scientifically displayed specimens, it opens the door to knowledge about the natural world for all ages, especially families and young people on weekends.

To have a complete and enjoyable visit, tourists should be familiar with basic information about the museum's address, operating hours, and ticket prices.

The museum is located within the grounds of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology at Building A20, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi . Visitors can easily reach it by motorbike, car, or public bus routes such as 08, 14, 20C, 22, 26, 32, and 38.

Opening hours and ticket prices

The museum is completely free to visit. Operating hours are as follows:

  • Morning: 8:30 – 11:30
  • Afternoon: 13:30 – 16:30
  • Tuesday - Friday: For pre-booked groups.
  • Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: Open to all visitors.

The exhibition space, spanning over 300m², is divided into numerous thematic areas, taking visitors from one surprise to another. From the history of life's formation and the evolution of humankind, to the diverse world of animals, plants, insects, and marine life.

The evolutionary history of humankind

One of the museum's highlights is the area recreating the process of human evolution. Through detailed models and diagrams, visitors can clearly visualize the stages of development from primitive primates to Homo habilis and Homo sapiens.

The world of flora and fauna through the ages

This area displays an incredibly rich collection of specimens, including fossils dating back hundreds of millions of years, such as the ancestral bird, the Indochinese bear, and the Indochinese tiger. Visitors will be particularly impressed by rare specimens such as the skeleton of a giant whale, a sunfish, rhinoceros horns, and hawksbill turtle scales. Each area is equipped with projection screens providing detailed information about each evolutionary period.

Experience immersive 3D cinema.

In addition to the static exhibition space, the museum also has a modern 3D cinema. Here, visitors can enjoy fascinating science films about the world of dinosaurs, the vast ocean, the universe, or the process of evolution. Each screening lasts 30 minutes and requires a minimum of 15 registered guests.

Things to note when visiting

To protect the artifacts and ensure the best experience, visitors are kindly requested to adhere to the following regulations:

  • Do not touch the exhibits or display models.
  • Supervise children and prevent them from running, jumping, or playing in dangerous situations.
  • Maintain order, avoid making noise, and dispose of trash in designated areas.
  • Follow other instructions from the museum management.
