Production development associated with environmental protection

With the operating criteria of "Sowing green resources - Multiplying values", in addition to ensuring the environment during the production process, An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company, located in Long Binh An Industrial Park, always actively participates in tree planting and afforestation projects.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, General Director of An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company, to ensure safety during the production process, in 2016, the company renovated all stages of the wastewater treatment system, from input to level 1, level 2 and level 3 treatment. Specifically, the water after treatment always meets the standard of type A - Vietnam Standard QCVN12-2015 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on wastewater of the pulp and paper industry. In 2017, An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company became the pioneer in Tuyen Quang province to install an automatic monitoring system to control wastewater before discharging into the environment... Currently, the wastewater indicators from the company's Pulp and Paper Factory always meet the standard of type A of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on wastewater indicators in the pulp and paper industry. According to Mr. Anh, in addition to developing production, every year the company coordinates with localities in the province to support people with high-quality seedlings to develop afforestation, especially large timber forests, contributing to sowing green resources and multiplying values.

The sugarcane processing line of Son Duong Sugar Factory has been upgraded and invested to minimize production losses and reduce emissions to the environment.

Production development Phu Tan Tea Company Limited, Phu Lam Ward ( Tuyen Quang City) also carries out the responsibility of environmental protection. Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, Director of the Company shared that the company previously operated in the field of tea processing for export, since 2015, the company has switched to producing peeled boards and plywood for export. Operating in the field of forest product processing, noise and wood dust are unavoidable. However, to protect the health of workers and laborers, and minimize environmental pollution, at all stages from preliminary processing to pressing boards, the company has invested in installing ventilation fan systems; filter systems, dust extraction... According to Mr. Chi, the installation of a complete environmental protection system increases the cost but in return, the air in the factory is guaranteed. According to the monitoring results, the indicators of gas and dust in the company's production workshop are all within the allowable range.

According to the results of two monitoring rounds conducted by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in 2023 and early 2024 at a number of industrial parks, clusters, and production facilities, the levels of carbon, sulfur, and ammonia... are all within the limits of national technical regulations on the environment. This shows that environmental management and protection have received attention and focus from businesses.

Absolutely not trading the environment for economic growth

According to the report of the Inspectorate of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, besides businesses that do well, there are still businesses that, for many reasons, have not strictly implemented the provisions of the law on environmental protection.

Specifically, on April 17, the Inspection Team of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment conducted a comprehensive inspection of environmental protection work at Son Duong Sugar Joint Stock Company (Son Duong). During the inspection, the team discovered and reminded the Sugar Joint Stock Company to seriously implement environmental monitoring in production, and promptly complete procedures to re-apply for a license to exploit water for production in accordance with State regulations.

Previously, on January 18, the Inspectorate of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment also inspected and made a record of fines for Sung Lim Vina Co., Ltd., located in Lot E3, Son Nam Industrial Park (Son Duong) with the content "Improperly and incompletely implementing one of the contents of the decision approving the results of the environmental impact assessment report appraisal according to regulations"

Mr. Hoang Duc Thang, Deputy Director of Son Duong Sugarcane Joint Stock Company (Son Duong) shared that the company's water exploitation license for production expired on December 31, 2023, which was also the time when the company focused on the pressing season, so it was negligent in letting it expire. Mr. Thang affirmed that the company will complete the procedures for re-issuance as soon as possible.

Mr. Phung The Hieu, Head of the Department of Environment, Water, Hydrometeorology and Climate Change - Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that the whole province has about 2,000 enterprises operating in the fields of industry, processing... not to mention thousands of agricultural and forestry production and processing establishments on a household scale. The rapid development of industry and handicrafts in localities has contributed significantly to economic growth but also led to environmental problems. In fact, local environmental pollution still occurs in some places.

Environmental protection is both a goal and one of the basic contents of sustainable development. The province has implemented the policy of economic development going hand in hand with environmental protection, resolutely not trading the environment for economic growth. All investment projects in the province must ensure environmental protection requirements, while strengthening inspection, supervision, detection and direction to overcome environmental limitations and shortcomings in the area.

Mr. Vu Viet Hung, Chief Inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that in order to prevent and minimize sources of environmental pollution in industrial production activities, the province always considers pollution control from waste sources as one of the key tasks in State management of the environment. Every year, the Department coordinates with relevant agencies: Provincial Police, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Construction... to develop plans, inspect and examine all manufacturing enterprises that have environmental impact reports. The Department Inspectorate in particular coordinates with the Department's functional departments to conduct surprise inspections of enterprises showing signs. Thereby, detecting, preventing and strictly handling acts of causing environmental pollution.

According to Chief Inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Vu Viet Hung, in addition to the participation of the province and the determination of the functional sector, enterprises and production facilities need to raise awareness and responsibility in environmental protection; implement the goal of green production, circular production, limit emissions to the environment for a safe and sustainable environment.
