Through a series of trade connection and trade promotion events, OCOP products across the country are getting closer to consumers in the capital.

OCOP colorful variety
In early June 2025, at Nguyen Bac Street, Van Dien Town (Thanh Tri District), the event "Introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the Central and Central Highlands provinces" attracted a large number of people and tourists. Nearly 1,000 OCOP products, craft village products, safe agricultural and food products from districts, towns and cities in Hanoi and many provinces and cities across the country gathered here, bringing the quintessence of regional characteristics...
Participating in introducing products at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - representative of Hoa Ban Company Limited ( Lai Chau province) shared: “We bring many products processed from Lai Chau ginseng - a plant that grows naturally in the special climate and soil conditions of the Northwest mountains. Ginseng has a high saponin content, of which the active ingredient MR2 accounts for up to 50% of the total saponin. Products such as ginseng roots, ginseng tea, ginseng wine... are highly appreciated by consumers. Through the events in Hanoi, we believe we can approach this demanding but potential market”.
Also at the event, Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Tam - representative of Son La agricultural products booth introduced Diep Bach black garlic product of Tay Bac Cooperative (Vieng Lan commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province), which meets 4-star OCOP standards. "On average, we produce more than 3 tons of black garlic per month, distributed nationwide. Hanoi is a potential market, requiring high quality, so we hope that through trade promotion events in the capital, our products will be more strongly received," said Ms. Tam.
Not only the event "Introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the Central and Central Highlands provinces", in recent times, Hanoi has continuously organized weeks, fairs, and seminars connecting trade of OCOP products associated with regional culture, such as: Event introducing OCOP products of the Red River Delta provinces at Tay Ho Creative Cultural Space (Tay Ho district); event introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the Northern mountainous provinces taking place in Son Tay town; event introducing OCOP products of the South taking place at Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district)...
As a consumer in the capital, Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Tram (Xuan Phuong ward, Nam Tu Liem district) expressed: “I really like going to the OCOP product introduction weeks. Not only do I have the opportunity to shop for typical products, I also get to enjoy regional cuisine and experience the rich cultural space”...
Connecting consumption, spreading OCOP values
According to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, from 2019 to present, Hanoi has evaluated and classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the total number of OCOP products nationwide). This is an impressive number, affirming that Hanoi is the leading locality in the country in implementing the One Commune One Product Program. Not only that, Hanoi is also an important consumer market for OCOP products from provinces and cities nationwide.
According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Dinh Hoa, with a population of about 12 million people, the demand for high-quality food and foodstuffs in the capital is very large, while the self-supply capacity only reaches 35-45%, the rest depends on supply from other localities and imports.
Realizing the role of connection, in recent times, Hanoi has built and developed more than 1,500 supply chains for safe agricultural and food products with 43 provinces and cities; at the same time, the city has also formed nearly 160 internal supply chains, contributing to ensuring a stable and diverse source of goods for the people. In the capital, there are currently 29 shopping malls, 131 supermarkets, 455 traditional markets (including 7 wholesale markets), more than 2,000 convenience stores, more than 400 e-commerce platforms and tens of thousands of grocery stores... This is a widespread distribution system, playing a key role in bringing OCOP products closer to consumers.
In addition, trade promotion events held regularly in Hanoi also open up great opportunities for businesses, cooperatives, and craft villages across the country to promote their products, seek partners, and expand their markets. With a systematic approach, combining commercial and cultural factors, Hanoi is gradually forming a sustainable OCOP ecosystem. More importantly, the acceptance of OCOP products by Hanoi residents not only helps spread the value of agricultural products and regional specialties, but also contributes to creating livelihoods, increasing income for farmers, and promoting new rural development in localities. This is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, the whole country for Hanoi".
