According to Sport , Nico Williams' representative, Felix Tainta, met with Barcelona's sporting director Deco to discuss the young midfielder's future. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half. Williams' representative wanted to hear Barcelona's ambitions in this deal.
Barcelona were keen on signing Williams last summer, but ended up signing Dani Olmo instead. Raphinha’s performances in the 2024/25 season have further alienated the club’s board.
Williams himself expressed his intention that if he had to leave Athletic Bilbao, he would still want to stay in Spain. Barcelona is the ideal destination because there are many close friends of this midfielder. Williams' ambition makes it difficult for clubs pursuing him such as Arsenal or Bayern Munich.
