In his first time leading Bayern Munich to replace his predecessor Julian Nagelsmann, coach Thomas Tuchel faced a big challenge when hosting Borussia Dortmund (the team leading the Bundesliga rankings) at home at Allianz Arena in round 26 of the Bundesliga.

However, the "Gray Tigers" started smoothly thanks to a "disaster" move from Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. In the 13th minute, from a long pass from Upamecano from midfield, goalkeeper Kobel rushed out of the penalty area to clear the ball but missed, causing the ball to go straight into the net, to the amazement of all the players and fans in the stands.
The Swiss goalkeeper's silly goal made the away team's players feel bad, as just 5 minutes later they conceded a second goal. In the 18th minute, from a corner kick on the right wing, striker Thomas Muller, despite being closely marked, still headed the ball dangerously, giving Kobel no chance to block.

Muller himself scored Dortmund's third goal in the 24th minute. This time it was an easy goal with a close-range tap-in when goalkeeper Kobel pushed the ball away from Leroy Sane's shot from outside the box. In this situation, Kobel did not make a mistake because he flew to block the dangerous shot very well, but Dortmund's defense responded too slowly.
The 3-0 lead remained until the end of the first half, helping Bayern Munich enter the second half in a very comfortable mood. In the 50th minute, the score was 4-0 for the home team when Coman easily tapped the ball close to the goal after a classy pass from Leroy Sane on the right wing.

Despite being continuously insulted by their opponents, Borussia Dortmund players still tried to find an honorary goal and they scored two consecutive goals in the 72nd and 90th minutes by Emre Can and Male respectively.
The German Super Classic ended with a 4-2 victory for Bayern Munich, helping new coach Thomas Tuchel make an impressive debut as he helped the "Gray Tigers" reclaim the top spot from Dortmund and lead their opponents by 2 points after 26 rounds.
