Closing Ceremony of Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a population of less than 10,000 people

After 3 days of organization with many attractive and rich activities, on the afternoon of November 5, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Lai Chau province to summarize the closing ceremony of the first Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people and Lai Chau Tourism-Culture Week 2023.

The representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province handed over the flag to host the 2nd Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in 2028 to the representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Lao Cai province.

With the theme "Preserving, promoting and disseminating the traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups with very small populations", the Festival has contributed to concretizing the goals, tasks, solutions and strategic breakthroughs in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, contributing to "Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development". At the same time, it contributes to strengthening the great national unity bloc; honoring and promoting the good traditional cultural identity values of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people nationwide in particular and the traditional cultural identity of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam in general.

During the 3 days of the Festival, many activities had political and cultural significance and left a good impression on the audience; spreading the traditional and unique cultural values of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.

The Exhibition Space introduces typical cultural products of ethnic groups, showing the unique features of each locality through displaying and introducing the cultural characteristics of the community through artifacts: paintings, photos, books, brochures; models of artifacts, musical instruments, traditional costumes of ethnic groups, handicrafts, brocade, and local products.

The mass art festival with the participation of 9 troupes with nearly 400 artisans and actors, has 45 different cultural and artistic performances; the performances of the troupes are mostly performed by artisans and mass actors, with elaborate investment, rich content, imbued with the cultural identity of very few people in the provinces, closely following the theme of the Festival.

Performing and introducing excerpts of festivals and traditional cultural rituals of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people, 8 provinces have carefully selected and staged, through which the delegations have shown that localities attach great importance to the work of preserving the unique traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups.

Through the content of this Festival, the organizing committee awarded 31 A prizes, 36 B prizes and 12 C prizes to the performances of the groups participating in the Festival.

Regarding sports activities, there were 8 provinces, nearly 200 coaches and athletes participating. After 3 days of exciting and attractive sports competitions, the organizing committee awarded 31 sets of medals in 3 competitions, including: Pole pushing, crossbow shooting, tug of war.

At the closing ceremony, the representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province handed over the flag to host the 2nd Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in 2028 to the representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Lao Cai province.

Award Certificates of Merit to groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in consulting and organizing the Festival.

On this occasion, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded Certificates of Merit to 18 collectives and 5 individuals; the Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 29 collectives and 48 individuals with outstanding achievements in consulting and organizing the Lai Chau Festival and Tourism-Culture Week in 2023.
