On the sidelines of the 10th Session of the 14th National Assembly: Resolutely handling ethical violations in the educational environment

In response to information circulating on social networks about a sensitive clip that is said to have taken place at To Hien Thanh High School (a private school in Hai Hau commune, Ninh Binh province), a representative of the Hai Hau commune People's Committee said that on the afternoon of November 10, the To Hien Thanh High School Council had a meeting and made a record requesting the dismissal of Mr. NVĐ (Chairman of the School Council) and submitted it to the competent authorities for consideration and decision.

Regarding this issue, speaking on the sidelines of the National Assembly, delegate Ho Thi Minh (Quang Tri) said that serious violations of pedagogical ethics standards and going against the code of conduct in educational institutions must be resolutely fought against and eliminated.

According to delegate Ho Thi Minh, Article 69 of the 2019 Law on Education stipulates that educational administrators must have good qualities, ideology, and ethics, maintain honor and prestige, set an example for teachers, staff, and students, and protect a safe and healthy educational environment. Thus, if the behavior of the man in the video clip is verified by the authorities, it is a serious violation of ethical standards, harming the reputation of the school, undermining the trust of students, teachers, and parents, causing bad public opinion in society...; therefore, it is necessary to resolutely fight to eliminate unethical behaviors in the educational environment.

According to the delegate, this is a regrettable incident, an isolated incident, which does not reflect the general situation of the current education sector. Therefore, we need to have objective assessments and views on the contributions of the education sector in the career of "growing people". However, each teacher and manager working in the education sector also needs to consider this a valuable lesson to reflect on themselves, constantly study, practice, cultivate, and uphold their qualities and professional ethics in all circumstances to be worthy of being a shining example for students to follow.
