Authorized by the provincial People's Committee, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Luu Van Dung said that dengue fever is currently a worrying public health issue not only in Vietnam but also in the entire ASEAN region.

According to the Ministry of Health 's report, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the whole country has recorded more than 18,000 cases of dengue fever, 5 deaths, the southern provinces are the "hot spots" of the epidemic.

In Dong Nai , in the first 5 months of 2025, more than 2,600 cases of dengue fever were recorded, an increase of more than 2 times compared to the same period last year. This is a warning bell because now it is the rainy season, the risk of dengue fever cases will continue to increase.

Dengue fever can be fatal but can be prevented. In Vietnam, there is now a vaccine. However, people need to proactively prevent dengue fever with other simple measures such as: killing mosquitoes, killing larvae, cleaning the house, clearing bushes, sleeping under mosquito nets, wearing long-sleeved clothes, getting vaccinated against dengue fever...

Responding to Patriotic Hygiene Day, in recent times, Party committees and authorities at all levels in Dong Nai province have implemented many solutions to prevent diseases and improve people's health. Up to now, the average life expectancy of Dong Nai people is 76.2 years old, higher than the average life expectancy of the whole country.

Deputy Director of the Department of Health Luu Van Dung requested the health sector to continue to coordinate well with departments, branches and localities to implement measures to effectively control epidemics and ensure the health and lives of the people. Medical examination and treatment facilities in the province have prepared enough medicine, chemicals, medical supplies and equipment, etc., to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people in the area.
