Fake article about Bach Mai Hospital on social media - Photo: BCCC
Bach Mai Hospital has just issued a notice saying that it has discovered fake news posted on social media, taking advantage of the hospital's reputation to call for charitable donations.
The fake news is an article impersonating Bach Mai Hospital calling for donations for the case of baby Ngoc An, bank account 548814xxxx, account holder Nguyen Le Tan Trong.
"This is fake information, not issued by the hospital and shows signs of fraud. The hospital does not organize calls for individual donations via social networks or individual bank accounts. All official charity activities are announced via the website, fanpage or reputable media channels" - Bach Mai Hospital informed.
The hospital also recommends that people do not transfer money without verifying information via the hotline. If there are any suspicious signs, they can report to the hospital via 0969851616, or via the Bach Mai Hospital fanpage with a blue tick.
Bach Mai Hospital said that fake information about waste treatment at the hospital was also circulating online. According to the hospital, the images in the clip circulated online were from 2016 and had been processed nearly 10 years ago.
"At that time, we coordinated with the authorities to investigate and strictly handle the individuals and groups involved, and improve the process to prevent recurrence of violations," said Mr. Vu Van Giap, deputy director of Bach Mai Hospital.
Mr. Giap also said that the hospital has invested in a qualified waste treatment system that is regularly inspected. Every day, this system receives 7-8 tons of solid medical waste, of which 1.5 tons of toxic waste is transferred to legal entities for treatment. The wastewater treatment system can treat 3,400m3 of wastewater per day, ensuring demand.
"The fake news has been rehashed from years ago and combined with unrelated issues related to the hospital such as fake milk and fake functional foods to create a trend and cause confusion. Ten days ago, our "medical records" were forged with fake stamps," said Mr. Giap.
The hospital has asked the authorities to handle the fake charity appeal links. Recently, many hospitals have reported similar fake charity appeals for patients.
