The story of starting a business and the process of building the Vinh Phat Soursop Tea brand to achieve 5-star OCOP by Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay (born in 1969), Deputy Director of Travipha Company Limited, Tan Thanh Commune, Tan Phu Dong District, is truly a source of motivation for women in the province.
Coming from a farmer background, having been attached to soursop since her youth, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay has always wondered how to improve the quality of this specialty fruit of the island. After many years of research and learning, Ms. Bay has succeeded with soursop tea and more honorably, the product has achieved 5-star OCOP status of Tien Giang province, exporting this product to major markets around the world .
In 2024, besides soursop tea, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay's product "Fermented soursop juice" won First Prize in the 2024 Startup and Business Ideas Competition organized by the Provincial Women's Union.
When asked about the idea of starting a business from soursop instead of other agricultural products, Ms. Bay said: "I chose soursop to start a business because I want my hometown people to have products with high economic value based on the trees and fruits of my hometown; at the same time, solving the output for soursop."

Established in 2017, the Women's Association for Weaving Palm Products in Tan Quoi Hamlet, Tan Hoa Thanh Commune, Tan Phuoc District has 40 members, with the support and companionship of the Commune Women's Union and other sectors in applying knowledge and techniques from training courses and professional training courses to weaving Palm products. Currently, each month, members weave over 2,000 finished handbags, hats, etc., with prices ranging from 10,000 - 40,000 VND/piece, helping women have a stable income.
Weaving palm baskets and palm hats is easy to learn and do. It only takes diligence and meticulousness to do it. Therefore, the model has the ability to attract women of different ages to participate, creating more jobs for idle and unemployed workers, creating favorable conditions to help women take care of their families and earn extra income.
Although it has only been established for over a year, the Women's Association for Weaving Palm Products in Hamlet 3, Tan Hoa Thanh Commune has not only preserved the beauty of the traditional weaving craft, but also created jobs for idle local women, contributing to building a commune that meets new rural standards and advanced new rural standards in the locality.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Hai, Head of the Coordinating Group, said: Currently, the group creates jobs for 30 women weaving products such as handbags, palm-leaf hats, etc. Every week, the group produces about 1,000 products. Depending on the size of the product, the labor cost is from 8,000 - 20,000 VND/product, skilled workers make 20 products/day, older workers make more than 10 products/day; with an average income of about 2 - 4 million VND/person/month.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tan Hoa Thanh Commune, Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, shared: "Currently, in the commune, there are 4 Women's Associations weaving sedge products and 1 Women's Livelihood Association weaving sedge products, with more than 200 women participating. The effectiveness of the model "Women's Associations weaving sedge products" has contributed to the successful implementation of the emulation movement's targets on self-confidence, creativity, overcoming difficulties, enhancing the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance, helping each other in economic activities, creating more opportunities to enhance women's economic power.
On the vast pineapple fields, the female members of Tan Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative, Tan Phuoc District, take care of the pineapples together. Realizing the great potential of pineapple raw materials, Ms. Le Thi Bich Phuong (member of the Management Board of Tan Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative) decided to establish a pineapple seedling nursery cooperative, and together with the members of the cooperative, help many women in difficult circumstances develop their family economy on their homeland.
Tan Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative has been in operation since December 2021, practicing seedling cultivation, sewing threads from pineapple leaves, growing organic agricultural products, mainly using decomposed manure in the process of caring for plants, providing safe products for community health such as: pineapple, taro, dragon fruit, jackfruit...
Ms. Le Thi Bich Phuong said that, thanks to following the circular economic orientation, in their operations, Tan Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative as well as the Pineapple Seedlings Nursery Cooperative utilize all manure, roots, yam stems, old pineapple plants, water hyacinth, etc. to compost into nutritious organic fertilizer to water pineapples, thereby creating quality pineapples.
Every year, the cooperative supplies hundreds of tons of clean pineapple and thousands of quality pineapple seedlings to the market. This creates jobs and increases income for many women and local people.
