The patient is a 39-year-old female with two children, admitted to the hospital with heavy vaginal bleeding, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen. Her medical history included prolonged menstrual periods and multiple monthly bleeding episodes. Clinical examination showed the uterus was as large as a 14-week pregnancy, and ultrasound revealed multiple fibroids in the uterine muscle, of irregular size, causing deformation of the endometrial cavity.

After being treated with hemostatic drugs and hormones, the bleeding was temporarily controlled. However, to completely treat the cause, the patient was advised to be transferred to a higher level for specialized surgical intervention. The person directly in charge of the transfer was Dr. Pham Cong Tinh - Team Leader of Amet Team, who has a lot of experience in handling emergency medical situations.
Before departure, Dr. Tinh examined and consulted the patient thoroughly, and closely coordinated with the Operations Department of Field Hospital 2.7 to complete all documents, procedures, flight safety plans and medical response scenarios in the air.
During the entire transfer, the patient’s physical and mental condition was kept stable. The transfer ended safely when the patient was fully handed over to the Indian Level 2+ Hospital in Juba, ensuring proper professional procedures and strict requirements of the United Nations.

Previously, Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 (BVDC2.7) successfully performed an emergency appendectomy for a patient who was a soldier of the Ghana Infantry Unit, admitted at 9:00 p.m. local time on October 3 with severe pain in the right iliac fossa, which had lasted since the morning of the same day.
After examination and imaging diagnosis, the Emergency Room (ER) team reported to the Board of Directors of Field Hospital 2.7 about the suspected condition of acute appendicitis. The results of the emergency consultation determined that the patient had acute appendicitis with the threat of rupture - a life-threatening situation if not treated promptly.
The hospital's board of directors promptly activated the professional procedure according to UN standards, sought instructions from the UNMISS Medical Commander and decided to perform the surgery that night. After nearly 1 hour of urgent and precise work, the surgery was successful. The patient was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) at 0:10 local time, in a state of alertness, good response and continuing to recover.
After just over 2 weeks of officially taking over the area, Field Hospital 2.7 has examined and treated more than 100 patients (115 cases), including 2 surgeries and 1 air medical transport case - an impressive number, reflecting the professional capacity, coordination ability and high readiness of the hospital staff.
In the context of limited facilities, harsh climate and the nature of working in a conflict zone with many potential risks, the successful implementation of the first CASEVAC case marks a remarkable step forward in the maturity of Field Hospital 2.7, both in terms of professional qualifications and international operational capacity.
This medical transport not only demonstrates the professional skills and quick adaptability of the Vietnamese medical team, but also contributes to affirming the prestige, position and image of Vietnam in the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
