After the Vietnamese team won 2-1 against Thailand in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final on the evening of January 2, a large number of people flocked to the central areas of Hoan Kiem district in Hanoi to "go crazy".

On the roads leading to Hoan Kiem Lake, people and vehicles are densely packed. Notably, after the impacts of Decree 168/2024, at intersections, the vast majority of people "going out" obey traffic lights and wear helmets.
People carrying flags, trumpets and cheering objects poured into the streets after watching the first leg of the final. Traffic police were also present to prepare plans to direct traffic and handle violations if there were any cases of disorder or extremism.
Xuan Son's double helped Vietnam gain an advantage after beating Thailand 2-1 at home in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final.
This is the first time Vietnam has beaten Thailand at home in 27 years, and the first time in 17 years since the ASEAN (AFF) Cup 2008 that Vietnam has beaten Thailand in an official match.
The second leg final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8pm on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium.
