Lang Son province currently has 648 units and schools; including 84 ethnic boarding schools with 612 school locations. The total number of children, pupils and students studying in the whole province is 211,143.
The 2020-2025 period recorded that the entire education and training sector of Lang Son has made efforts to overcome difficulties and successfully carry out the task of educational innovation with many fundamental changes.
The mobilization and maintenance work achieved very good results, the school network continued to be organized and arranged reasonably. The rate of schools meeting national standards increased to 48.9% (an increase of 15.42% compared to 2020).
The quality of comprehensive education and key education is consolidated, maintained and continuously improved over the years.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the high school graduation rate reached 99.08%; the results of the National Excellent Student exam achieved 34 prizes, the highest result ever achieved; won 1 Second Prize, 1 Fourth Prize in the "National Science and Technology Innovation for High School Students" contest; won 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize in the national "Students with startup ideas" contest
In the 2020-2025 period, the industry also discovered, monitored, and trained 561 and selected 402 excellent students to learn about the Party, and admitted 168 students into the Party's ranks, thereby effectively implementing the model of "Party members at the age of 18".

The team of teachers and basic education managers meets the minimum requirements in terms of quantity and structure.
However, some places still have a shortage of teachers; the subject structure is uneven. Currently, Lang Son province still has many separate schools (344 kindergartens; 217 primary schools; 43 secondary and junior high schools); the number of mixed classes for 2-3 age groups still accounts for a high proportion (489/2,234, 21.9%) due to sparse population, lack of classrooms, and small number of children.
The quality of education in disadvantaged areas has improved but not significantly. Teaching equipment for some subjects in the 2018 General Education Program is still inadequate and inconsistent.
The facilities of some units are degraded, and there are no timely solutions to repair and upgrade them.

The construction of national standard schools in some places has not yet met the criteria of facilities, and the number of students per class exceeds the regulations. The plan to develop specialized schools and ethnic boarding schools is still difficult due to limited funding.
Speaking at the conference, comrade Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province, requested the Education and Training sector to continue to pay attention to the work of building, fostering and training a team of teachers and educational managers with moral qualities, a sense of responsibility, and professional and technical capacity to meet requirements.
