Historical imprints and memories of President Ho Chi Minh , General Nguyen Chi Thanh
“Journey for Peace” is the theme of the collection of artifacts on display, vividly recreating the imprints of the activities of President Ho Chi Minh and General Nguyen Chi Thanh. The exhibition space was carried out with the coordination between the Presidential Palace Relic Site, General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum, and the support of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (Ministry of National Defense) and the Ministry of Public Security's Permanent Office on United Nations Peacekeeping.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, daughter of the late General Nguyen Chi Thanh, shared that this is a great honor for the family. “Our family has just built the Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum for over a year and we are very lucky to be able to return to visit Uncle Ho’s relic site – a place we often visited as children. When my father worked with Uncle Ho, we had the chance to play here, it felt very familiar,” she recalled.
According to Ms. Ha, the staff of the relic site emphasized that among the generations with a special attachment to President Ho Chi Minh, General Nguyen Chi Thanh holds a very special position. She recalled a precious memory: “In August 1945, at Tan Trao, during the National Congress, Uncle Ho named my father Nguyen Chi Thanh. That is a sacred memory and also a great honor for the family”. To her, that attachment is a testament to the close comradeship and solidarity between revolutionary leaders and leaders, fighting together for the independence and future of the nation.

At the exhibition, many valuable artifacts associated with President Ho Chi Minh and General Nguyen Chi Thanh were introduced for the first time. Among them was the radio - a spoil of war that the General captured during the campaign in the South. It was this radio that he used to contact Uncle Ho, report on the revolutionary situation and receive instructions from the Central Committee.

In addition, the exhibition also displays a tea set - a souvenir from Uncle Ho's visit and work at the General's family, as well as the shirt he wore when accompanying him to the Soviet Union in 1960.
Each artifact is not only a personal memory of the General, but also a living witness to the close relationship between Uncle Ho and his excellent students.

The tea set of General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family was used by President Ho Chi Minh and other comrades in the Politburo.
The journey to peace also has a special meaning, because although he passed away early, General Nguyen Chi Thanh left behind glorious contributions to the country. He is considered one of the best students, closely associated with President Ho Chi Minh.

In particular, this exhibition also introduces many photos of General Nguyen Chi Thanh accompanying President Ho Chi Minh in domestic and foreign activities for the peace of the nation and humanity.

"Journey for Peace" - a story that continues through generations
The exhibition at the Relic Site includes two main contents.
Part 1 - President Ho Chi Minh and General Nguyen Chi Thanh with the journey to preserve peace for the Vietnamese people has the exhibition content vividly recreating the milestones in the journey to fight for independence, freedom, and true peace of the Vietnamese people, in which President Ho Chi Minh was the initiator and leader, and General Nguyen Chi Thanh was the successor, implementing with sharp political and military strategies.
Part 2 - Vietnam participates in world peacekeeping introduces Vietnam's outstanding achievements and marks on the path of international integration, especially emphasizing its increasingly proactive and positive role in United Nations peacekeeping activities.
To prepare for this exhibition, since March 2025, the Document Collection and Inventory Department (Presidential Palace Relic Site) has been diligently searching, selecting and completing the artifacts' records.
Ms. Luong Thi Lan, an officer of the Document Collection and Inventory Department, said: “While working with the family of the late General Nguyen Chi Thanh, we were fortunate to receive the sharing of Ms. Thanh Ha - the General's daughter and Ms. Ngoc - his wife. From those discussions, the two sides came up with the idea of organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the day President Ho Chi Minh named General Nguyen Chi Thanh, which also coincided with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution.
The name “Journey for Peace” was suggested on April 30, when witnessing the Vietnamese peacekeeping force parading in Ho Chi Minh City – a force closely associated with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, son of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Thanh. He was the one who laid the foundation, bringing Vietnam to participate in United Nations peacekeeping activities. From Uncle Ho, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Thanh, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh to today, the peacekeeping units all aim for a common goal, which is independence, freedom, happiness of the nation and peace for humanity. That is the story that continues for many generations, Ms. Lan added.
All artifacts at the exhibition reflect the historical process of formation and development of peacekeeping forces in the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense.
A special highlight is the artifact about Lieutenant Colonel Do Anh (born in 1983), who died after completing his mission at the peacekeeping mission. The collection and display of these artifacts is a tribute to the comrade.

At the same time, the artifacts also record the contributions of international friends to the Vietnamese peacekeeping force. Many gifts from people in the mission areas are respectfully preserved, becoming valuable souvenirs expressing affection and recognition for the force.

As a soldier of the Peacekeeping Police Unit No. 1, Senior Lieutenant Hoang Anh Nguyet expressed her emotions when she saw with her own eyes the artifacts associated with the footsteps and work of the peacekeeping force. “Today, I am very honored to attend the exhibition with the theme Peace Journey - Continuing the story of peace. My heart is filled with emotion and a burning patriotism. I wish to contribute to the peace of the nation as well as the peace of the United Nations. The artifacts displayed here are very close, associated with the lives of soldiers directly participating in peacekeeping missions at distant missions. In particular, the artifacts of comrade Do Anh - who heroically sacrificed himself - made me extremely emotional. Besides, I also saw the uniform of teacher Le Quoc Huy, the teacher who gave me hope and the opportunity to join the peacekeeping force. I am truly grateful to him and my comrades,” Senior Lieutenant Hoang Anh Nguyet shared.
With more than 80 documents, artifacts and relics, the theme "Journey for Peace" becomes a bridge connecting the past with the present, crystallizing the steadfast will to protect peace of previous generations and the proactive and responsible spirit of Vietnam in the mission of preserving world peace in the 21st century.
The “Journey for Peace” exhibition area is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 at the Presidential Palace Relic Site. The series of activities takes place with many events, including: Exhibition “Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh-Milestones of National History”; Special exhibition “Journey for Peace”; Exhibition “Continuing the Story of Peace”; Launching the book “President Ho Chi Minh and General Nguyen Chi Thanh”; Launching the book “The Governor-General of Indochina in the Past and the Presidential Palace Today”; Launching the AR technology experience associated with the real world - connecting history and modernity through spatial computing technology.
