Immortal symbol of Vietnam - Cuba solidarity

Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Cuba, on the afternoon of April 20 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly attended the ceremony to rename Hoa Binh Park to Ho Chi Minh Park and install a plaque honoring his life and career in the Plaza district of the capital city of Havana.

Also attending were Vice President of the Cuban National Assembly Ana Maria Mari Machado; leaders of the capital La Habana, the Plaza district, and many people.

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his honor and emotion when, together with leaders of the Cuban National Assembly, government leaders and people of Plaza district, capital of La Habana, attending the ceremony to rename Hoa Binh Park to Ho Chi Minh Park and attach a plaque to his life and career.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba have many historical similarities, the same noble revolutionary ideals, and a heroic tradition of fighting for independence, freedom, and national liberation. The past 63 years of history have demonstrated the empathy, understanding, and solidarity between the two peoples, despite being half a world apart, but the close friendship that transcends the limits and conventional rules of international relations. It is an exemplary, loyal comradely relationship that has been diligently cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro, along with previous revolutionary leaders and generations of leaders of the two countries. Cuba is proud to have President Fidel Castro. Vietnam is proud to have President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, a leader, a national liberation hero, and a world cultural celebrity admired by the Cuban people and the world with sincere feelings. The National Assembly Chairman said: “Today, witnessing the moment when Hoa Binh Park was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh Park, a symbolic milestone of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to express our sincere emotions and gratitude for the sentiments and hearts of the Cuban people.”

In Hoa Binh Park, the Ho Chi Minh Monument designed by architect Joel Diaz, Vice President of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, is located in the park, next to Avenue 26, expressing the Cuban people's special deep affection for President Ho Chi Minh. Ho Chi Minh Park is one of the works of historical and cultural significance, together with other historical works and cultural heritages of the capital Havana, creating a unique architectural complex, like flowers that adorn the charm of the civilized, hospitable and beautiful capital Havana.

On the same evening, in the capital city of Havana, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Cuban Ministry of Culture and relevant agencies, solemnly organized a special art program titled “Vietnam - Cuba - Historical Marks”. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Cuban National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernández attended the event.
