On the afternoon of July 3, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan, Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, informed about the peak month of fighting against the production of counterfeit, fake, and poor quality goods, according to Official Dispatch No. 5 and Directive 13 of the Government.
The Ministry of Public Security spokesperson said that the Ministry is focusing on and regularly and continuously fighting these violations. During the peak period, the Ministry of Public Security prosecuted 124 cases and 297 defendants related to the violations. At the same time, it handled 944 cases and 968 subjects.
"This also shows that the development of violations in the production of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods is still very complicated, with sophisticated tricks. Violations range from the preparation stage, establishing front companies, establishing virtual legal entities, to importing raw materials, producing counterfeit goods, organizing advertising, and consuming... This is a very sophisticated cycle, with many measures to deal with the authorities. The nature of the cases is very dangerous," said Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan.
Specifically, the case related to fake HIUP milk - this is a case of producing and trading fake food products. Up to this point, the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted the case and prosecuted 10 subjects for 2 main acts: Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences (Article 221 of the Penal Code) and Producing and trading fake food products (Article 193 of the Penal Code).
Regarding the OFOOD cooking oil case, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security said that this is a case of smuggling and producing fake vegetable oil on a large scale: "This is the act of turning oil used for animal feed into cooking oil for humans. It is very dangerous and its consequences for the health of consumers have not been fully assessed."
Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Security has initiated a case and prosecuted 3 suspects: Dang Thi Phuong - Director of Nhat Minh Food Company for the crime of Manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods; Nguyen Trong Nang - Executive Director and legal representative of Minh Phu Food Import-Export Joint Stock Company and An Duong Production and Trading Company Limited for the crime of Smuggling; and Do Thi Ngoc Mai - Legal representative of An Hung Phuoc Import-Export Trading Company Limited and Phuoc Thanh Agricultural Products Import-Export Company Limited for the crime of Smuggling.
"Both cases are under investigation, in the spirit of concentration and urgency, but also strictness, caution, objectivity, and true nature. In addition, the investigation agency will also clarify loopholes and loopholes in legal regulations to make recommendations in State management work," Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan emphasized.
