Appointing Ms. Pham Thu Hang as Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ms. Pham Thu Hang was appointed to the position of Acting Director of the Press and Information Department and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

On the morning of June 8, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc presented the decision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs appointing Ms. Pham Thu Hang - Deputy Director of the Department of Press and Information and Deputy Spokesperson to hold the position of Acting Director of the Department of Press and Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang assumed the position of Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang after Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (December 2022).

Acting Director Pham Thu Hang has many years of experience working at the Department of Press and Information (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), holding many positions, and is experienced in working with domestic and international press. From 2017-2020, Ms. Pham Thu Hang was Political Counselor at the Embassy of Vietnam in Washington DC, USA.

Thus, Ms. Pham Thu Hang is the 5th female spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had four female spokespeople: Ms. Ho The Lan, Ms. Phan Thuy Thanh, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga (currently President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) and Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang.
