Ministry of Defense ready to facilitate Turkish defense enterprises

(Dan Tri) - General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the Ministry of National Defense is ready to support and create conditions for Turkish defense enterprises to introduce products and explore areas of cooperation suitable to the capabilities of both sides.

On the afternoon of October 13, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense , hosted a reception and held talks with Chairman of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency Haluk Gorgun.

Also attending the meeting was Mr. Korhan Kemik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Vietnam.

Speaking at the talks, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that this visit by Mr. Haluk Gorgun is very important, a positive and effective step in implementing the commitment to strengthen defense industry cooperation agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders in the Vietnam-Türkiye joint statement.

General Phan Van Giang affirmed that after nearly 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1978-2025), the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Turkey have been continuously consolidated and developed, with great room for cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of defense.

Vietnam is steadfast in its “four no’s” defense policy. Vietnam wishes to expand bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual respect for common interests, contributing to maintaining peace , stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, General Phan Van Giang emphasized.

According to the Minister of National Defense, Vietnam advocates multilateralization, diversification, equal cooperation and mutual benefit with all partners, including Türkiye.

General Phan Van Giang assessed that Vietnam's purchase of defense equipment from partners, whether from Turkey or any other country, is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities, serving the purpose of protecting the Fatherland and protecting peace.

Vietnam is interested in international cooperation in the defense industry, aiming for self-sufficiency in the production of military equipment; in recent times, bilateral defense industry cooperation has been promoted by both sides, achieving many positive results.

The two sides have made efforts to jointly build and sign a memorandum of understanding on defense industry cooperation in July, thereby creating a framework to promote and further strengthen cooperation in the field of defense industry, in accordance with the needs and capabilities of both sides.

Exchanges of high-level delegations between the two countries' Defense Ministries have been increased, contributing to promoting defense cooperation and defense industry; supporting and actively participating in defense industry exhibitions and fairs organized by each side,...

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, General Phan Van Giang suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate, bringing defense industry cooperation between the two countries increasingly deeper and more substantial, focusing on a number of contents such as: Continuing to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels; sharing and updating information, laws, and policies on purchasing defense products of each side.

General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is ready to support and create conditions for Turkish defense industry enterprises to continue to exchange and contact with agencies and units of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to introduce products as well as explore areas of cooperation suitable to the needs and capabilities of both sides.

Speaking at the talks, Chairman of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency Haluk Gorgun said that the signed memorandum of understanding on defense industry cooperation is an important foundation for implementing joint projects between the two countries, while creating trust and safety in cooperation.
