
On the evening of October 7, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a conference to summarize the production and promotion of the feature film "Red Rain".
In his speech, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense , was moved to recall the tragic stories of war through the memories of veterans of Quang Tri Citadel, and emphasized: Red Rain not only realistically depicts the fierce battle but also touches people's hearts with humane details, deeply carving out the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism in the Ho Chi Minh era.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Colonel and writer Chu Lai, Red Rain was directed by the Ministry of National Defense and the Central Military Commission to produce as an artistic work to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. After more than 2 months of release, the film earned more than 713 billion VND in revenue, attracting more than 8.3 million viewers, becoming a cultural phenomenon of Vietnamese cinema.

Minister Phan Van Giang affirmed that when art is associated with history and revolution and invested in the right direction, it will become an effective propaganda channel, spreading patriotism and the desire to contribute, especially among the young generation.
Minister Phan Van Giang requested the General Department of Politics to continue directing the People's Army Cinema to promote its success, research and create more works on revolutionary themes, and at the same time bring Red Rain into the education system, screen it in units and schools and widely introduce it to international friends.

Director, Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen expressed his emotion at the attention of the leaders of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, considering Red Rain as "a stick of incense to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs". The film is currently the top grossing film in Vietnam, ranked 3rd in Southeast Asia and is among the 65 highest-grossing films globally in 2025.

At the conference, Minister Phan Van Giang awarded certificates of merit to 20 groups and 18 individuals with achievements in producing and promoting the film "Red Rain" . The General Department of Politics awarded 16 groups and 59 individuals; the People's Committee of Quang Tri province awarded a certificate of merit to the People's Army Cinema. The Ministry of National Defense also considered and proposed to award the Third Class Labor Medal to the People's Army Cinema collective and 3 outstanding individuals.
