Reporting to the Working Group, Dr. Tran Quang Hien - Director of An Giang Department of Health said that Phu Quoc Special Zone currently has 3 large medical facilities that can be put into service for the medical needs of the APEC 2027 Conference, including: Phu Quoc Medical Center (400 beds); Vinmec Phu Quoc International General Hospital (150 beds) and Phu Quoc Sun Hospital (100 beds) expected to be put into operation from January 2026.
Regarding the capacity to organize emergency care outside the hospital, Phu Quoc Medical Center has activated and operated the centralized 115 Call Center with 4 ambulances fully equipped with machinery, equipment and emergency resuscitation supplies. Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital has 2 international standard ambulances and has been provided with 6 more ambulances from the Ministry of Health 's Emergency Care Project. The hospital has the capacity to transport domestic and international emergencies by ambulance or by medical aircraft and helicopters.

Regarding medical examination and treatment, Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital and Phu Quoc Sun Hospital are international general hospitals, providing basic and specialized professional services, meeting international standards.
In addition, Phu Quoc Medical Center has also performed 7,937 technical categories, and has now transferred 201 more techniques to Cho Ray Hospital.
However, Phu Quoc Medical Center has been used for many years, so many places are degraded; departments, rooms, and warehouses no longer have enough space to serve essential needs. Medical equipment here is also old and seriously lacking, only meeting the basic medical examination and treatment needs of the people, making it difficult to provide high-quality services for the APEC Summit.
At the survey, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that the Provincial People's Committee has approved a budget of 120 billion VND to invest in the construction of a new Phu Quoc Medical Center, but it currently only meets the basic construction items and is in great need of additional capital to purchase specialized medical equipment.
Provincial leaders also proposed that the Ministry of Health support investment in resources, facilities, equipment and human resources so that the locality has the capacity to serve international events.
In the immediate future, the Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Health provide guidance on developing a medical emergency plan, conducting drills to respond to incidents, public health events, and multiple accidents. Send experts to support training, coaching on emergency skills, resuscitation, infection control, and international communication in the medical field. In addition, provide technical advice to connect and establish a medical support network between central and provincial hospitals and satellite hospitals to serve the APEC 2027 Conference.
Dr. Ha Anh Duc - Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - Ministry of Health assessed that Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital and Phu Quoc Sun International Hospital basically meet and ensure the needs of facilities serving the APEC Conference. In particular, Phu Quoc Medical Center needs to be upgraded in terms of facilities and equipment.
Regarding human resources, in addition to the available on-site medical staff, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment will have a plan to mobilize experts and doctors in the fields of surgery, trauma, cardiovascular intervention... from hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to support Phu Quoc during the APEC Conference.
