The Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally-run cities; hospitals under the Ministry of Health; hospitals under the University of Medicine and Pharmacy; and health departments of ministries and branches on ensuring medical examination and treatment and support to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
According to the Ministry of Health , according to the quick reports from the localities, so far there has been no case that did not receive timely emergency and treatment during storm No. 3 and its aftermath. Hospitals have prepared to deal with the super storm, moving patients and equipment to higher floors, preparing human resources, medicine, generators, etc. to treat patients.
At some hospitals in Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province, due to prolonged power outages and running out of fuel for generators, staff were mobilized to squeeze balloons by hand, wholeheartedly saving the lives of patients. Medical facilities in the northern mountainous provinces actively treated victims buried or injured by the storm and the rain, wind, and landslides after the storm; many medical staff waded through mud and floods with the people to cope with and overcome the consequences...
In order to quickly overcome the consequences of storms and floods, maintain and ensure conditions to effectively carry out the work of protecting and taking care of people's health, the Ministry of Health requests that hospitals under the Ministry of Health, hospitals under Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities and hospitals in other provinces and cities with professional conditions, not affected by storms and floods, be ready to support, establish working groups to increase human resources for treatment and disease prevention and control for hospitals in provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3 if necessary.
At the same time, support and connect remote medical consultation and treatment, receive patients, etc. Encourage donations to support people in storm and flood areas in the spirit of mutual love depending on the contribution capacity of each unit and individual.
For hospitals and medical facilities in areas affected by storm No. 3, it is necessary to continue to promote the spirit of "A good doctor must be like a mother" of a physician, ready and wholeheartedly serving patients; in cases beyond capacity, transfer to another facility or request support for remote examination and treatment.
The Ministry of Health also noted that hospitals in areas affected by the storm do not collect fees not covered by health insurance from victims in accordance with the Prime Minister's instructions, and must compile treatment costs and report to the Department of Health.
Review facilities, equipment, medicines, supplies, etc. and proactively propose timely solutions and supplements to ensure routine medical examination and treatment.
The Department of Health directed the Center for Disease Control to coordinate with local authorities to ensure clean water, environmental sanitation and disease prevention; prepare plans to deal with the scenario of increased epidemics after storms and floods and diseases such as diarrhea, poisoning, dermatitis, etc.
