Thai women's volleyball team wins opening match at world championship

(Dan Tri) - The representative of Southeast Asian women's volleyball, the Thai team, won 3-1 against Egypt in their opening match at the 2025 World Volleyball Championship.

The World Cup is being held in Thailand, where the host team is currently ranked 21st in the world. Thailand’s first opponent in this year’s tournament is Egypt, ranked 54th in the world. Egypt is also the lowest-ranked team among the 32 teams participating in the 2025 World Cup.

In the first half, Thailand played with great enthusiasm, they won quickly against Egypt with a score of 25-15.

In the second half, Thailand was somewhat negligent, they let Egypt win this half with a score of 25/23, tying 1-1.

However, that was all the African volleyball team could do in this match against the host team Thailand. In the third set, Thailand won quickly 25-15. Not only that, in the fourth set, the female team of the Golden Temple country won 25-11.

In the end, the Thai women's volleyball team beat Egypt 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-11). Thailand temporarily leads Group A after the first round of matches.

Also in the first match of Group A, which took place on August 22, the Netherlands beat Sweden 3-2. The Dutch women's volleyball team temporarily ranked second in Group A.

The next representative of Southeast Asia to compete in the world championship will be the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will compete with the world's third-ranked team Poland at 8:30 p.m. today (August 23).
