This is also the first time in history that Vietnamese women's volleyball has entered the top 25 in the world and ranked 4th in Asia after Japan (5th), China (6th), and Thailand (14th). The Korean women's volleyball team did not compete successfully at the FIVB Nations League, so they dropped to 37th place in the world, 12 places below the Vietnamese team.

The tournament will feature 8 teams, with host Vietnam sending 2 teams, the national team and the U.21 team.
