Ahead of the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is actively preparing with a series of important friendly matches with VTV Binh Dien Long An , Long An youth men's team and 2 matches with Vinh Long youth men's team.
This is considered a valuable opportunity for the coaching staff to review the squad, test the lineup and improve coordination in competition.
According to the plan, the team will have two first practice matches at 2:30 p.m. on November 21 (Friday) and 8:30 a.m. on November 22 (Saturday) at Long An Provincial Gymnasium, respectively against VTV Binh Dien Long An women's team and Long An youth men's team.
After that, the women's team will continue to move to Vinh Long to play a friendly match on November 29 and 30 with the Vinh Long youth men's team at the Provincial Gymnasium.
These matches are expected to help athletes improve their ability to deal with opponents with superior jumping and attacking power, thereby improving their defensive ability at the net.
A series of friendly matches with both strong women's teams and young men's teams with good physical strength will bring many practical lessons. Help the Vietnamese team perfect their playing style, increase ball handling speed and build cohesion within the whole team. This is an important preparation stage, demonstrating the great determination of Vietnamese women's volleyball on the journey to SEA Games 33.
Previously, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had planned to train internationally, but due to conflicting schedules with foreign national championships, the coaching staff decided to train domestically.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his students gathered after the 2025 National Championship, and had 3 weeks of training in Quang Ninh before moving to the South to practice, to get used to the hot weather similar to that in Thailand.
Previously on October 19, the organizing committee of the 33rd SEA Games conducted the draw for the volleyball group. According to the results, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was in group B with the opponents: Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia.
The goal of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is to at least reach the finals, aiming for the championship. The biggest rival of the Vietnamese girls is the host Thailand.
