Vietnam women's volleyball team determined to win against Kenya

At 5:00 p.m. today (August 27), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play their final match at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship against Kenya.

The goal of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team is to strive to find a farewell victory and bring joy to the fans.

After two matches in Group G, both Vietnam and Kenya were eliminated early. However, the final match of the tournament is still important for both.

Do your best

After the past two matches against Poland and Germany, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has shown both positive and negative aspects. Among them, the brightest point of the team is the fighting spirit, not giving up even when facing very strong opponents.

In terms of scores, the 1-3 defeats to Poland and 0-3 defeat to Germany may have disappointed many people. However, considering the technical aspects, the Vietnamese players played better than expected. Against opponents who were stronger in technique, tactics and physique, the whole team maintained a serious attitude.

This helped the Vietnamese team create explosive moments. Not hesitating to launch massive attacks and accept risks, the Vietnamese girls created many thrilling score chases, surprising the opponents.

Tactics are also the next bright spot. Despite being inferior in terms of physique and physical strength, the Vietnamese team has made good use of their flexible playing style. However, along with that, the team has also revealed weaknesses, in which the first step continues to be a concern.

Even though Thanh Thuy played the role of setter, she still made mistakes when the opponent continuously pushed the ball. Next, a veteran libero like Khanh Dang also did not have good form.

The first step has problems, making the second pass not smooth. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has not been able to develop good attacking situations.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre before the match against Kenya, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "The team's goal is to try to play fairly and win against Kenya. The Vietnamese team will study the video, analyze the opposing team and focus on organizing tactical play. Only by playing with smart tactics can we achieve good results."

Don't be subjective before Kenya

Before the World Cup, the two teams had a chance to play a friendly match in Hanoi. The result was that Vietnam won overwhelmingly against Kenya. But don’t be complacent because of this victory, because a friendly match cannot say anything.

That is because the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has the home field advantage and has more time to practice together. Meanwhile, Kenya is unlikely to give their all in this friendly match. Therefore, it is not easy to predict the result when the two meet again at the world tournament.

In fact, entering the tournament, Kenya is performing much better than in the friendly matches. In the most recent match against Poland, the team considered the strongest in the group, the African representative caused quite a few surprises. Although still losing 1-3, in the second set Kenya won with a large margin of 25-15.

Although Kenya showed some awkwardness in the first and second sets, with the African players' superior strength and jumping ability, Kenya's hitters still found a way to score. The main attacker Adhiambo or the opposite setter Tata completely surprised the tall Polish blockers.

Therefore, it is easy to understand why Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet chose to approach the match with flexibility in tactics. It is not clear how he will apply it, but this is worth the fans' wait.

Who is responsible for scoring?

That is the question that many fans are interested in. Vi Thi Nhu Quynh shined brightly against Poland with 20 points, but then was helpless when she only scored 3 points against Germany.

Meanwhile, Thanh Thuy became the player with the most points in the match against Germany with 17 successful attempts. Therefore, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet may have to rely more on captain Thanh Thuy. In return, the Vietnamese team needs a passer and that will be a difficult problem for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet in the current personnel situation.
