Attending the program were Mr. Tran Hoai Thu - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tay district; Mr. Pham Minh Nghia - Deputy General Director of BSR ; along with representatives of departments/offices of the People's Committee of Son Tay district, the government of Son Dung commune and teachers of Son Dung commune Kindergarten and Son Dung commune Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities.
Son Tay district is one of the difficult mountainous districts of Quang Ngai province. It has rugged mountainous terrain, difficult transportation and a high poverty rate. The majority of the population is ethnic minorities, living scattered in villages far from the center and with limited economic conditions. Therefore, investment in education faces many challenges, with a lack of facilities, makeshift schools and rudimentary learning equipment. Choosing Son Tay mountainous district to implement educational projects is not only practical, but also demonstrates BSR's deep social responsibility towards remote areas, where children need the community's support to have the opportunity to learn and develop.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Pham Minh Nghia - Deputy General Director of BSR shared: BSR is the unit that manages and operates Dung Quat Oil Refinery - a factory that produces a variety of petrochemical products, meeting more than 30% of domestic gasoline demand, contributing significantly to maintaining national energy security.
“We always keep in mind that, in addition to performing well the tasks of production and business and political tasks, responsibility to the community and society is also an important mission. When coming to the locality, we realized that the district still had many difficulties in terms of facilities. Witnessing the shortages of teachers and students of the two schools, BSR determined that its contribution was timely, practical and meaningful. We hope that teachers and students will effectively use this project, promoting the spirit of good teaching - good learning to contribute to building the future generation of the country", Mr. Pham Minh Nghia emphasized.
The project at Son Dung Kindergarten sponsored by BSR is designed with 1 basement and 2 upper floors for classrooms and auxiliary items. The construction area of the project is about 402m2 with a reinforced concrete frame structure. For Son Dung Ethnic Minority Primary and Secondary School, the project is designed to be 2 floors high, with a construction area of about 383m2 with a reinforced concrete frame structure. In addition, auxiliary items have also been built including concrete floors, toilets, repainting old classrooms, installing additional desks, chairs and fire fighting equipment... The total value of BSR's sponsorship for these 2 projects is 10 billion VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hue - Principal of Son Dung Kindergarten shared: “In the difficult conditions of Son Tay district, especially in remote areas. For Son Dung commune, investing in building spacious and modern facilities has long been a dream of teachers and students of the two schools. Now that dream has come true thanks to the care, sharing, companionship and practical support from BSR. Today's two projects are not only solid classrooms or working areas but also vivid evidence of the company's sense of responsibility, for the community, for the education cause. It is a gift that contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning, helping teachers feel secure at work, students feel secure in studying in better, safer and more complete conditions".
At the inauguration ceremony, representatives of Son Tay District People's Committee, Son Dung Commune, BSR and teachers of Son Dung Commune Kindergarten and Son Dung Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities visited and inspected the infrastructure of the schools. At the same time, they performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony and installed the project sign.
The inauguration and putting into use of two school buildings in Son Dung commune is not only an activity of material support but also a symbol of spreading the spirit of social responsibility. New classrooms and modern functional rooms will be a solid foundation for teachers to confidently dedicate themselves, and for students to be more motivated to excel in their studies. The spacious and solid educational buildings in Son Dung commune are a meaningful gift of humanity, a hope that the collective of BSR workers is continuing the story of improving education in the mountainous district of Son Tay, Quang Ngai province.
