During a hearing before the House Appropriations Subcommittee, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine detailed the ambitious defense investment plan, which they said would be spent “to keep the American people safe by bringing peace through strength.”
The budget package is allocated to many important strategic projects, notably $25 billion for the Golden Dome missile defense system and $62 billion to modernize the nuclear force.
In addition, 3.5 billion USD will be invested in the development of the 6th generation fighter F-47, while the shipbuilding industry is allocated 47 billion USD.
In addition to investments in weapons and equipment, the budget plan also focuses on improving the lives of soldiers and their families.
Specific measures include upgrading living conditions in barracks, improving housing in bases, reforming troop movement procedures and improving the quality of the defense health care system./.
