Pu Luong is located in the west of Thanh Hoa province, with an area of over 17,000 hectares, in the two districts of Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa, bordering Vietnam - Laos. The climate of Pu Luong mountain is cool, the terraced fields are vast and picturesque in the ripe rice season. The scenery attracts many photographers and tourists to "hunt for the golden season".

The golden season hidden in the mist and clouds at the foot of Pu Luong mountain, was captured by photographer Nguyen Trong Cung on the morning of June 2. Cung said that this was his third time returning to Pu Luong during the ripe rice season, and he still felt as passionate as the first time.

"The rice season in Pu Luong is as beautiful as the northern mountainous regions," said Mr. Cung.

Pu Luong is one of the few places where two rice crops can be grown on terraced fields. The golden season here usually takes place twice a year, the first crop from late May to mid-June and the next crop from late September to early October.

Located between valleys, the terraced fields in this area have a gentler slope than the highlands in the North. The fields are close together, about 3 - 4km away, convenient for tourists to visit and "live virtual".

The sea of golden ripe rice embraces the road in Ban Don.

Mr. Cung said he uses a motorbike so he can proactively stop at any stop along the way to take beautiful photos.

Ban Don is planned to develop into a community tourism village. This place still retains the traditional culture of the Thai people, with traditional wooden stilt houses interspersed among terraced fields winding like golden silk strips embracing the village. This is also home to many resorts and homestays.

In the center of Ban Don, the S-shaped road (photo) is a popular check-in spot for tourists.

The rice fields in Pu Luong are now turning yellow, and some fields are being harvested. The rice is bundled into small bundles and spread out on the stubble to dry from the dew. The young people in the village will be responsible for bringing the rice home.

People sat resting after harvesting rice, laughing and talking happily.

The male tourist enjoyed the peaceful countryside scenery and the aroma of ripe rice.

The golden season "flows" across the valleys, lighting up the whole sky.

The 34-year-old photographer noted that the "golden season" does not last long, usually lasting only 2 to 3 weeks. This year's rice harvest season came early, expected to end by the end of June.

Mr. Cung suggests that before coming to Pu Luong, you should check the room status, ask the locals or consult associations and groups to know when the rice ripens in each commune and when to harvest.

A point at the end of Ban Don - the direction down to Pho Doan market.

Mr. Cung said that the ripe rice fields are usually most beautiful at dawn or dusk.

In addition to hunting for ripe rice, Mr. Cung went to Hieu waterfall (photo) in the afternoon on the last day of the itinerary. This is where the Thai people live, with hundreds of houses located along both sides of the stream flowing from the top of Pu Luong. The waterfall flows through not-too-steep rapids for 800 m, the water level here is just over 1 m, the bottom is fine sand. Visitors can swim and soak in the clear water, enjoy local specialties and spend the night at the waterfall.
