The workshop "Update on new advances in diagnosis, treatment and management of breast cancer" will take place on August 16, 2025 at Hong Ngoc - Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital in collaboration with Samsung Medical Center, under the direction of the Vietnam Medical Association and the Vietnam Cancer Association.

Samsung Medical Center (SMC) is a member of the Samsung healthcare system - Korea's leading hospital in cancer treatment, featuring the "Precision Medicine" model - precision medicine with a "tailored" treatment regimen based on the biological characteristics of each patient. In addition, Hong Ngoc General Hospital is one of the pioneering private hospitals in Vietnam to simultaneously achieve two prestigious certifications: the Australian ACHSI Healthcare Certificate and the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) surgical training certificate. In recent years, Hong Ngoc General Hospital has repeatedly played the role of hosting prestigious medical conferences and seminars with the participation of experts from the world's leading medical organizations.
The joint organization of the workshop between Hong Ngoc General Hospital and Samsung Medical Center is a practical opportunity to update new knowledge and trends in comprehensive breast cancer management protocols. The event also opens up a space for professional exchange between Vietnamese doctors and foreign colleagues, thereby contributing to improving the capacity to treat and care for breast cancer patients in a more effective and humane manner.

During the conference, a team of experts from Samsung Medical Center (SMC) will present eight in-depth reports, comprehensively updating the latest advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The content ranges from the role of diagnostic imaging in detecting and monitoring the disease, advanced surgical techniques, modern systemic and radiotherapy treatments, to rehabilitation - all aimed at improving treatment effectiveness and quality of life for patients.
In the field of diagnostic imaging, Associate Professor, Dr. Ji Soo Choi (Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Center for Imaging Science , Samsung Medical Center) emphasized the key role of ultrasound, mammography and MRI in early detection of small lesions, staging, individualizing treatment as well as monitoring recurrence after treatment.

During the treatment phase, the effectiveness and indications of surgical, chemotherapy and radiotherapy methods will be analyzed in depth by leading experts: Prof. Jonghan Yu (Head of Breast Surgery, Department of Surgery, Samsung Medical Center), Associate Professor, Dr. Hee Kyung Ahn (Chairman of the 10th and 11th Clinical Practice Guidelines, Korean Breast Cancer Society), Associate Professor, Dr. Haeyoung Kim - Member of the Korean Cancer Society and the American Association for Cancer Research. The experts emphasize the development of a comprehensive and optimized treatment strategy for each patient according to each specific stage of the disease.
In addition to treatment, reconstruction and rehabilitation options after breast cancer treatment will also be presented in detail, to support patients to reintegrate into life soon. This is an important part of the comprehensive care regimen, especially meaningful in the context that breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women in Vietnam today.
In addition to updating expertise, the conference also opened up important medical dialogues, shared clinical data, and laid the foundation for establishing long-term cooperation programs in the future. This is especially meaningful in the context of breast cancer tending to be younger, with a rapid increase in incidence and recurrence, making the need to improve treatment capacity, early detection, and post-treatment management more urgent than ever.

The event is expected to attract the attention of the domestic medical community, especially experts in oncology, diagnostic imaging, surgery, nuclear medicine and rehabilitation. This will be an in-depth forum on breast cancer, where domestic and foreign experts will exchange clinical data, share treatment experiences and update comprehensive patient management trends. The conference also opens up opportunities to promote long-term cooperation with Korea in the context of breast cancer in Vietnam being increasingly younger and increasing the rate of recurrence. Professional contributions at the event are expected to contribute to improving early detection capacity, personalized treatment and sustainable post-treatment care.
In addition, the event also marked an important step forward in the strategy of expanding the Oncology specialty at Hong Ngoc General Hospital. Through in-depth seminars and updating modern treatment trends, the hospital aims to improve the quality of breast cancer patient care in a comprehensive manner, suitable for each physical condition, condition and stage of the disease. This is also a clear demonstration of Hong Ngoc's long-term commitment to accompanying patients on their journey to fight cancer.
