At the age of 23, singer-songwriter Ha An Huy is going through an emotional and challenging period in his career. He has just accepted an invitation to participate in the National Concert "What Will Last Forever", taking place on September 2 at the Ho Guom Theater - an event the male singer considers a great honor to be able to contribute his voice.
"To be able to sing at the sacred moment of the nation - 2pm on National Day, September 2, in front of millions of live and online audiences, is an endless happiness for me. I am putting all my strength into performing the song Hue - Saigon - Hanoi by musician Trinh Cong Son, which Music Director Tran Manh Hung assigned me. With the passionate heart and boundless patriotism of a young artist, I believe the performance will be very touching," Ha An Huy shared.

- What excites you most at this stage of your career?
Making music! That has always been what feeds my heart. I spend a lot of time on music, on emotions, to nurture a soul that truly loves the profession and creates works that can somehow soothe the wounds of listeners. When I am excited about making music, all good things will come. I believe so!
- Many people say that Ha An Huy has clearly defined his own style at the age of 23. How would you describe your musical color?
I just hope my music reaches the listeners in a genuine way. If it is genuine enough, it will have details and melodies that touch the hearts of the audience. The color of my music is created by the audience - they are the inspiration, the "color" for me to draw new works.

- Which song makes you most emotional or proud of your compositions up to this point?
Far Away Land - the song that helped me win the Big Song Big Deal Championship and was later included in Pharmacist Tien's film project. It is the story of a 20-year-old boy who first set foot in Saigon with many wonderful experiences. I always cherish what the song brings, from the audience to the stage and the emotions that day.
- What does a normal day of writing for you look like?
I don’t have a habit of sitting in front of a computer or a piano. I can compose anywhere, on the stairs, while driving, at the beach or even lying in bed. As long as I have enough passion and heart, the music will come to me.
I usually write music starting with personal feelings and then the artist's imagination. Each story is a world and I observe to breathe life into it. Whether inspired by life or imagination, it all has to come from experience and the heart.
- Writing from your feelings does not necessarily create a "hit"?
I don't put too much emphasis on creating "hit" music to go viral. I prioritize authenticity and emotional depth. A "hit" song still has to come from real emotions to reach the audience. I always try to balance market trends and my own identity, carefully crafting each product. Whether it's a "hit" or not is up to the audience to decide, but I have to be confident and persistent.
- 23 years old, known for his beautiful voice and very touching, "healing" songs. What helps him stand firm in both?
I have nurtured both of these skills since childhood. I started playing the drums at a very young age, then the piano, and then singing. I have always wanted to challenge myself and take advantage of every experience to combine the two roles of composing and performing. I am fortunate to have inherited the artistic tradition from my family and accumulated experience through competitions.

- Is love your biggest inspiration? Have you ever written a song about a failed love?
Love is the starting point of everything - not only love between couples but also love for family, country or a place, a moment. All my works originate from love from many different perspectives.
The songs Bluesmile, Thuong Anh, Nho are all about a beautiful but incomplete love, but what remains in me is the wonderful thing about women. That was a special moment that moved me, simply from the very small details like they had beautiful hair, beautiful eyes, and a very gorgeous dress.
Love stories sometimes succeed or fail depending on many factors, but I always keep the beautiful images we both had. Those beautiful feelings are precious and I have kept them with lyrics and melodies.
- Does Ha An Huy's lover need to understand and love his music?
It's hard but it doesn't matter. If she understands music, that's great, but if she doesn't, that's okay too. She just needs to sympathize and share with me.
- How is Ha An Huy in 2025 different from the early days of his career? What is the biggest dream he is pursuing in music?
I have grown up, become more confident and have found my own musical color - a bit romantic, honest and modern. I no longer put achievements first but focus on depth and quality. 2025 is an important milestone, marking my new progress and maturity.
In the future, I want to hold a grand concert to thank the audience, continue to compose and perform in parallel. Whatever I do, I still want the audience to remember me through sad but healing melodies.
