Hydroelectric reservoirs implement dam safety assurance procedures

- According to investors of hydroelectric reservoir projects in Lang Son province, currently hydroelectric reservoirs including Khanh Khe, Ban Nhung, and Thac Xang are implementing dam safety assurance procedures according to current regulations.

Specifically: at Khanh Khe hydroelectric reservoir, the water flow into the lake is 600 m3/second and the water flow out is 600 m3/second; at Thac Xang hydroelectric reservoir, the water flow into the lake and discharged downstream is 2,556 m3/second; at Ban Nhung hydroelectric reservoir (Ky Cung 6), the water flow into the lake is 802 m3/second and discharged downstream is 802 m3/second, to ensure dam safety.

The Provincial People's Committee has directed investors of hydropower projects to closely monitor the water level in the reservoirs to have a solution and report to the Provincial People's Committee according to regulations. The reservoirs will follow the dam safety procedures until the flood is over.

Currently, in the province, there are 3 hydroelectric reservoirs operating according to the design with spillways and 1 hydroelectric reservoir without spillways (when water exceeds the prescribed level, it will automatically flow over the spillway).
