Cadres and party members guide the masses and subordinates
During his first days in the army, soldier Do Phat Giau, Company 11, Battalion 9 (Regiment 31) often had trouble sleeping, was quiet, calm in daily activities and training, and lacked concentration. As a party member, soldier Tran Minh Khang and his unit took the initiative to approach and talk to Giau.
Since then, Khang knew that Giau had just gotten married and had a small child, so he missed home very much. Understanding his comrade's situation, Khang often encouraged and helped Giau overcome his homesickness and integrate better into the military environment. They became close friends from the first days of enlistment. Soldier Giau shared: "The military environment not only helped me practice military skills but also deeply felt the love, comradeship, and team spirit, which was a great source of encouragement to help me overcome the initial difficulties."

Also in 2024, soldier Nguyen Van Tha, Platoon 9, Company 7, Battalion 8 (Regiment 31) enlisted in the army with special circumstances: His parents had passed away, and he lived with his aunt. In the first days in the unit, Tha tended to be withdrawn and rarely participated in common activities, lacked courage, was sometimes shy and self-conscious.
Seeing that, Sergeant Tran Bao Long, Squad Leader of Squad 9 always accompanied, encouraged and guided Tha to integrate. Long proactively brought Tha to participate in sports , entertainment and conversation activities to create closeness. Thanks to that, Tha gradually opened up, released his psychology, became sociable, actively studied, trained and completed his tasks well.
These are just two of many cases in Division 309 that have grown thanks to the model of "Cadres and Party members guiding the masses and subordinates". Implementing this model, Party committees and Party cells have selected core cadres and Party members to train and mentor soldiers, focusing on non-commissioned officers and newly enlisted soldiers. Activities take place through Party cell activities, Party cells, 3-person groups, dialogue forums... The content aims to solve psychological difficulties, improve qualities and lifestyles, prevent violations of discipline and build motivation to strive to study and practice seriously.
Colonel Ha Van Suat, Political Commissar of Division 309, said: “We focus on training content and methods for cadres and party members, and at the same time advise the Party Committee and Division commander to promote the role of mass organizations and military councils through forums, seminars, democratic dialogues... Thereby, we grasp the thoughts and difficulties of soldiers to assign cadres to provide effective support. Many good examples and good practices are propagated and spread throughout the unit.”
Thanks to that, from 2024 to now, hundreds of soldiers have made remarkable progress; 56 outstanding people have been admitted to the Party; soldiers have a good sense of striving, solidarity, completing all tasks well, and strictly following military discipline.

Officers accompany soldiers during their leave
After a period of intense study and training, many soldiers are given leave according to the regime. Instead of traveling on their own, soldiers of Company 6, Battalion 8, Regiment 31 are taken home by unit officers and then welcomed back to the unit. This activity not only creates convenience and ensures safety but also builds a close relationship between family and unit.
Recently, soldier Nguyen Thanh Phu Lam and some of his comrades with registered residence in Dong Thap province were on leave and were taken home by unit officers. “My mother was very touched when the unit officers took me home and kindly asked about my family. During the vacation, my mother always reminded me to cherish my time off, take care of my health and when I return to the unit, I must work harder,” Lam shared.
Senior Lieutenant Hoang Dinh Tuyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Company 6, said: “Bringing soldiers home on leave helps us understand more about their family circumstances and conditions. Thanks to that, the coordination between the unit, families and local authorities in educating and managing soldiers is also more effective.”
The policy of “cadres taking soldiers on leave home” has been effectively maintained by Division 309 for many years. Units based on the soldiers’ leave standards, pay special attention to comrades in difficult circumstances. The Division arranges cars and assigns cadres to take soldiers back to their hometowns, combining handover to local military agencies and visiting and giving gifts to families in special circumstances.
Implementing this model, over the past 5 years, Division 309 has motivated, managed, and educated soldiers well during their leave; especially ensuring traffic safety, law enforcement, and military discipline. The model has contributed significantly to building a clean and strong Party Committee of the Division, and a strong unit in all aspects.
