Officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces work hard to help people in the flood.

For several consecutive days, heavy rains have caused flooding and landslides in many areas of the province. To help people cope, the Provincial Military Command has promptly mobilized maximum forces and means. Regardless of the darkness, wind and rain, officers and soldiers have selflessly made efforts to help people move to safety and minimize property damage caused by floods.

Selflessly evacuate people from flooded areas

From the night of November 18 to the morning of November 19, due to heavy rain combined with the release of floodwaters from reservoirs, many areas in the communes of Dien Dien, Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh and Tay Nha Trang ward were deeply flooded, isolating many areas. The Defense Command of Region 2 - Dien Khanh continued to direct forces to coordinate with functional agencies to evacuate people and property to take shelter at state agency headquarters and high-rise buildings to ensure safety.

In Dien Dien commune alone, by 6:00 a.m. on November 19, more than 80% of the area was flooded from 1 to 1.5 meters deep. From 2:00 a.m. on November 19, the Defense Command of Area 2 - Dien Khanh mobilized more than 20 officers and soldiers; directed the mobilization of the entire militia force of the commune to use 5 motorboats and canoes to coordinate with functional forces to concentrate on evacuating people in deeply flooded areas. By the morning of the same day, the Provincial Military Command continued to mobilize 30 more officers and soldiers and many vehicles to support the evacuation of people in villages 1, 2, and 3 of the commune. By noon of the same day, people in these villages had been evacuated to safety. However, Dong village of Dien Dien commune was deeply flooded, threatening people's lives, so forces continued to increase their focus on evacuating people.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Kien - Commander of the Defense Command of Region 2 - Dien Khanh said: "From the afternoon of November 18, the peak was from 2:00 a.m. on November 19 until now, officers and soldiers have been working hard to rescue and help people, with the determination to protect people's lives above all else. During the evacuation process, people encountered many difficulties, especially when some schools did not cooperate with the evacuation, but we were determined to forcibly evacuate all of these cases, to avoid unfortunate risks when flood waters continue to rise."

In Van Thang commune, many areas were flooded, including Binh Trung village, which was deeply flooded, threatening the safety of 20 households with more than 40 people. In an emergency, at 9:00 a.m. the same day, the Defense Command of Area 1 - Ninh Hoa mobilized a working group of 5 officers, soldiers and 10 militia soldiers to coordinate with the Commune Police force to use 3 canoes to promptly approach and evacuate 20 households to safe shelter at the Commune Party Committee headquarters.

The Defense Command of Zone 3 - Cam Lam has directed the Military Commands of communes and wards in the area to mobilize 225 militia soldiers to coordinate with other forces to participate in rescue and help people in flooded areas in 16 communes and wards. Here, local forces coordinated with the forces of the 293rd Engineer Brigade to use 4 cars and 8 motorboats to promptly go to Hoa An and Giai Phong villages (Ba Ngoi ward) to support the evacuation of people to safety.

In the area under the control of Nha Trang Port Border Guard Station, many households in low-lying areas had their houses flooded, threatening the safety of people's lives and property. As soon as the situation was understood, Nha Trang Port Border Guard Station immediately activated a rescue plan, coordinating with local authorities to respond according to the "4 on-site" motto. The unit mobilized dozens of officers, soldiers, and 2 specialized motorbikes to move people to safety.

Do not let people go hungry

In recent days, the Provincial Military Command has mobilized more than 2,230 officers, soldiers, militia and self-defense forces to coordinate with the forces of the Ministry of National Defense , Military Region 5 stationed in the area and the shock forces of the localities to urgently respond to the floods. In particular, focusing on evacuating people in vulnerable areas to safe places and overcoming serious landslides on Khanh Le and Khanh Son passes. Along with that, the forces of the units have made maximum efforts in transporting food supplies to people in isolated areas; arranging forces to block at vulnerable locations... with the determination not to let people go hungry and to prevent risks caused by floods and landslides.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Van Toan - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, on November 19, the Provincial Military Command immediately released combat readiness and disaster prevention and control goods to support the people of Dien Dien commune with nearly 100kg of dry food. At the same time, the unit also reported and requested Military Region 5 to support an additional 2 tons of dry food to help people severely affected by floods in the whole province. Currently, this amount of goods is being urgently transported from Military Region 5 to the province.
