Can Tho completes removal of temporary and dilapidated houses

According to the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Can Tho City, responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide launched by the Prime Minister , Can Tho has implemented this movement very drastically.

After reviewing, Can Tho has 1,066 houses that need to be built and repaired. In 2024, the City has built and repaired 535 houses. Thus, in 2025, Can Tho has 531 houses left, of which 375 will be newly built and 156 will be repaired. The City has mobilized the participation of all levels and sectors and is determined to complete before April 30, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen said that to implement the program, the City has mobilized more than 49 billion VND. Of which, from the source of saving 5% of regular budget expenditure in 2024, more than 16 billion VND, mobilized sources more than 31 billion VND, and contributions from relatives and households more than 1.6 billion VND.

The fact that Can Tho City has completed the construction and repair of 531 houses for poor and near-poor households and people with revolutionary contributions is a clear demonstration of the strong, close and synchronous leadership and direction of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, and the enthusiastic and effective support of businesses, philanthropists and people.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City praised the sense of responsibility of localities, businesses, philanthropists, and forces that directly participated in building and repairing houses for people who have had new homes full of love.

In the coming time, Can Tho will continue to pay attention to and closely direct the construction and repair of houses in each locality; continue to research and propose appropriate and effective solutions; promote better resource mobilization, expand flexible and creative support forms, suitable for the target groups, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives.

On this occasion, 20 collectives and 25 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Can Tho City in 2025" received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; The Organizing Committee of the movement presented 50 gifts to representatives of households that have just received support to build and repair houses.
